Was hoping for some info on caregivers

Hi all,

I've been planning for awhile now to move to a medical state and I am very interested in finding out how to become a legal caregiver and also some more information on the profession from any those of you out there. I feel like this is my passion and need to follow my instinct and make the big move to make this happen. However I am not really sure what the process is of how people make money by doing it and also what their salaries even are or what they are capable of being. I would love to just help people out and provide medical relief for them but I also realize I need to make a living.
Does anyone know what the average salary of a full time caregiver would be or is there any out there who would mind telling how much they make or have heard what other people make?
Also if there is anyone out there who is a caregiver that could give me info on what i need to do to become one and how difficult the process is? the state doesnt matter.

I have tried to research salaries but cant seem to find anything. I have read some articles stating that some caregivers are making 6 figures easily and that the booming marijuana economy is doing very well and is one of the best professions to enter in at this time, but im not sure how accurate these statements are.

thanks to anyone and everyone who can help out and i look forward to starting this hopefully life changing adventure. i really want to do this legal and the right way so i look forward to hearing your replies and suggestions. + rep

it's hard to make a lot of money off being a caregiver because someone out there, especially people like me, will do it for way cheaper than people looking to do it for money. i dont think it is a very good profession to get into and is more of a hobby because there are people out there that always want to capitalize the market and make too much money off it. i have a very good reputation in my town as a very trusted person. i have a medical card and am a caregiver for a few people. i charge them no money. i tell them it is an honor for me to grow pot for them because this way im legally allowed to grow more plants which allows me to experiment more by using the scientific method resulting in more knowledge and experience. patients have a wide selection of strains and enough for me and them to vaporize or eat as much as they want. looking to get rich off pot is a bad idea. it is still federally illegal and if you start somethign that gets too big they will be watching you.

Right off the top of my head, I would say that it depends on the State you choose to move to. Each State has their own rules and guide lines. What might be perfectly legal in CA, may not fly in WA. Your dream seems admirable, but you need to kind of think it through, ya know, get a plan, then follow through with it. Good luck & good grow.......BB

thanks for your replies. I understand there are people out there who do this for free but I have also heard of people out there who make a good living doing this. I guess somewhere like Cali or Oregon would be the state of choice. Definitely one that is more leniant with the laws and such, however i have heard that cali is extremely flooded because of the amount of growers there and that it would be harder to make a good living there doing this. Keep the suggestions coming

you could probably go to NORML meetings or put ads in the news papers. where i live in Mi it is hard cause a lot of people with medical cards are on disability and cannot afford to pay outrageous prices for medical grade weed especially for the amount they wish to consume everyday. imo the marijuana dispensaries are a rip off. and i dont think the government is going to start paying for patients weed like it does for some prescription drugs. and if they did, that would just be wrong imo because tax payers should not be forced into paying for ppls weed cause not all patients actually need it as much as they say and can easily grow their own anyway. most of them just want an excuse to be able to smoke but i dont blame them cause it should be legal anyway without any regulation whatsoever.

Actually the government will pay for your weed in Cali as i understand. It you are gonna grow then move to a medical state. Why would you risk a felony when you could do it leagally? I just moved from Miami to Colorado and i am currently caregiving. It is tough to find patients though when you move fresh to a place. Good luck and follow your dream. As far as the previous comments dont listen to the naysayers you are only limited by your accepted reality. I would reccomend getting a job also or move with $30,000 at least saved. You will be thankful and it will make getting patients less hassel. I have known many that have moved here to do the right thing only to run out of money mid grow. You dont wanna be that guy. plan before you plant and good luck.

Was glad to see Colorado was not on your list as with the passing of the new law caregivers are only allowed 5 patients

I have 2, all I need and they are family members so I grow free for them

just giving this thread another bump. I am hoping that NC's Bill gets passed but if not then it looks like Cali will end up being the place. Does anyone know where I could find more info on how to become a caregiver there and also where to find what there caregiver laws are?

also this may be a stupid question to some, but do caregivers just sell to their patients or do they also sell to dispenseries?
