Was this a big mistake?

Hey everyone, no problems with my plants just yet, they look good, but I am getting a little worried about a transplant I just did. I took the plants from their 1 gallon pots of 100% coco and transplanted them into 2 gallon pots with a 50% coco and 50% perlite mix.

Im just a little worried that the dense coco on the inner root ball will hold all the moisture and rot my roots right at the base of the plants. Can anyone reassure me that they will be ok or let me know if i should do an emergency replant into 100% coco?

Also during transplant my roots looked slightlyl yellow, not that bad but they werent the bright white I was hoping to see, what could this be from and should I need to do anything to fix it?

Thanks for the help

dont know about yellow roots i try not to look at mine light kills roots so i move them as fast as i can and get them under soil. as for the soil holding water you should be fine water less often but give them more when you do it will keep all the soil wet and force the roots to search out the water

Ok I will leave them in the 50/50, and try very hard to not overwater, probably wait until a few plants are starting to droop and then water them all

I think you can take a glance at your roots when you transplant without killing them lol
Anyone know about yellowed roots in coco?

The yellowing is probably just staining from the coco. The 50/50 will be fine. And some folks that have been using coco for years say its almost impossible to over water when growing in it....I wouldnt let it get too dry before watering or you may find it hard to get it evenly moistened again with possible dry spots....

good point, I try to water slowly and I put a drop of dawn every ten liters of water. but you can really see the dry parts repelling the water. Thanks for the reassurance
