OK OK OK ... ive been convinced.... after an hour or so of googleing............ and BC latest thread......................... So what vaps would you recommend for a guy who has been someing bongs RELIGOUSLY for 15yrs..... if it dosent give me the hit a bong dose ill be back on here bitchin! lol
If your on a budget buy a Deluxe Daddy. They are under $200, I have to say, you wont like it for the first 2 or 3 sessions, until you learn how to get it dialed in, but once you do, God Damn.

I smoked bongs daily for years, once I got into the vaporizer, you smoke a few bowls and its like getting high in grade 8. Your just done. It brings out flavors that you would never believe could exist in some buds. A fresh hoot from a Deluxe Daddy is literally what heaven tastes like, theres no other way to describe it.

And to top it off, I use a hand grinder with a screen, I bust the bud, then use a screwdriver to mix up the weed and run all the crystal through the screen. I do this with ALL my vaporized weed. You end up with a SHITLOAD of Chronic hashish, And the shit thats been raped of crystal is still fucking Killer in the vaporizer.

I'm just gonna throw some more science into this discussion if no one minds. (Sorry for long post.)

First off, bongs deliver THC through smoke, produced by combustion. Now, the problem with combustion is threefold:
1. At temps over 800C THC and other cannabinoids start to break down. In conclusion the potency drops, since THC and cannabinoid quanity drops.
2. Combustion transforms aromatic esters into tar. Tar is extremly toxic to lungs. Still, a recent study of the Maryland Collage found out that heavy cannabis smoking will not produce precancerous formations in lungs, tar being eliminated completly from the lungs. This still doesn't mean that tar will not affect the respiratory passages, trachea, brochi, etc.
3. All remaining cellulose will be broken down into carbon monoxide (CO). CO is highly toxic. It binds with red cells, hindering any further oxigen transportation by the affected red cells and will inhibit motility of most white cells, lowering immunity. The effects of CO will dissapear completly only after 120 days after a person is no longer exposed to CO.

Bongs have only 2 roles: cooling smoke and filtering it. Sadly, filtering the smoke through water will only remove ash, which is not the worst enemy of our lungs. Tar and CO manage to pass through water effortlessly. Don't get me wrong, I also enjoy bongs, it's just that you should know what you're inhaling.

The truth is bongs do deliver less THC. What is not mentioned is that this is in comparison to vaporizers or vaporizing. That is why everyone is so amazed at this conclusion, since they believe it is in comparison to joints. Joints deliver even less THC. The reason for this is that joints, as well as bongs use combustion, at temps high enough to break down THC and cannabinoids.
Also, between inhales, the buds cool down to some 400-500C. This temp is low enough to permit a swift "evaporation" of cannabinoids. Practically, the smoke that's coming off your bowl or joint tip while you're not inhaling has more THC then the one you inhaled, because when air is pulled towards the flame/burinig plant matter, it heats up, having more oxigen to sustain itself.

Vaporizers, on the other hand provide the following advantages: no tar or CO is produced, no THC or cannabinoids are broken down, completly all cannabinoids are inhaled. Vaporizing means heating up at some 250-350C, below the point of combustion. Since most vaporizers do not permit any vapor to escape, all cannabinoids that evaporate can be inhaled. From my personal experience, vaporizers are far more efficient than bongs or joints.

And now to offer a solution that will make everyone happy. If you love bongs, like I do, but you feel that you care about your health and don't want to waste one drop of resin, buy a VaporStar.

I have a 50cm no name glass ice bong with diffuser and I use it with a VaporStar. It works perfectly, I don't loose any vapor, and can get high like a kite. If you like joints or pipes, I recommend an Ubie or VaporGenie or even an electrnic vaporizer. They all work great, but since I'm a bong lover, I enjoy the VaporStar most of all.

Hope that cleared some issues. I'd like to thank BCtrippin and Landragon for being serious and factual about this subject.

98% right. The MAPS/NORMl study showed joints to e preferable to bongs for two reasons. Each hit sent heated air through effectively vaporizing the downstream. It combusts at a lower temp than constant cooking with a lighter in a bong. The second reason was the plants image ability to filter tars but pass thc and other cannabinoids. If you leave a roach, you leave most of the tar. Gram for gram, you get more thc from a joint they concluded.

Awesome post by the way.

Thanks for the correct info! Contribution much appreciated, since this is a subject where physical, experimental facts, data and information speak louder than impressions and opinions.

I just made some chronic Butane oil with a bunch of vaporized remains, I have to say I wasnt expecting it to turn out good, but God Damn, Im never throwing away vaporizer remains again......so theres another reason to invest in vaporizers.

You can smoke it, then resmoke it, and you can extract alll the Keif before vaporizing the herb.

i think its mainly user preferance....i have a volcano, bongs, bubblers, and glass pipes, i also use rolling papers and swishers so yea its kinda just up to what you like man
No shit, I got it all, it just depends on what mood Im in for smoking method. I like them all!

you consume the same amount of THC from bongs, pipes, bubblers, joints, blunts. you just get bigger hits in a bong because the water catches much more of the ash and cools the smoke to give you a bigger hit. ive never heard of getting more tar from bongs. the only way i can see that truth is by the fact that you can take a bigger hit from a bong therefor allowing more tar to be able to enter you lungs on a single hit.

vaporizers are really cool because you burn the weed at the right temp to burn the THC, and not the plant. so you maximize your smokeage with minimal damage to your lungs. so if you want healthy go with a vap. they use a lot less weed than bongs. only thing i dont like about vaps is that im so used to having smoke in my lungs when i get high that i feel my mind is conditioned to associate the smoke with the high. so sometimes i still will hit the Gravity Bong after smoking the vap. also vaps taste different and i feel give a different high. not better or worse. just different.

i checked out the mad scientist and they look like a very nice bong. if you want a bong i would not be worried about the health risks at all. go for it. bongs are always nice to have around. i have a 1 foot bong and a 3 foot bong. and i love them both. but its just like tokemasterflex said, its all about preference. i have bongs, papers, pipes, bubblers, vaporizers, GB's. my pref is my silver surfer vap and my homemade GB. experiement and you'll find your fav's

BC your trippin homie. even if thats so you can take a bigger hit off a bong ANYDAY than you can get off a joint. putting more THC deeper into your lungs. think about it. it might be a little tough to think while you beat your head against a wall. hit a fucking gravity. one hit off that bitch will get you hella higher than one hit off a joint. same with a bong. so once again -- think about it.

I dont now, but who ever told you, you get less thc out of a bong, is full of it. I get ripped!
No one "told me" If you would take the time to do a little research I wouldnt have to explain this again.

You cant judge THC content by the high. Bong rips get you so fucked up because your taking on high amounts of thick smoke in big hoots. The bong doesnt filter anything but ash and large particles, the smoke comes out in bubbles of thick smoke. The smoke never gets completely diffused through the water.

Bongs are actually worse because your taking in more moisture which increases risk of pneumonia and lung disease. And when was the last time you smoked out of a clean bong? Im not dissin bongs, I smoke mine daily, but they are always dirty and full of resin.

Its actually the CO, tar, lack of oxygen that gets you so ripped and gives you the headrush....not the THC.

And to use a bong you need a lighter. Bic lighter burns at 1900*C so your actually torching the THC and burning it, not getting the chance to smoke THC purely. Butane also increases risk of cancer.

I already said this but here goes again. Perfect example. Look at the resin from a bongs bowl, its thick, black tar, full of CO, carbon, and Soot from the butane lighter.

Look at vaporizer resin, its not resin, its pure golden honey oil. So when you smoke a vaporizer your smoking the purest form of THC and not smoking any leafs, stems, tar, or Soot from the lighter.

When you vaporize, you can dial in the temp for the herb and be smoking only pure THC vapor. Your not torching the THC.

Im not dissing bongs, I love bongs, joints, bubblers, I smoke them all, but the FACTS are that vapor is way higher in THC content than bong smoke. PERIOD.

If you dont beleive me, do the research because Im tired of explaining it. :-P

Its not about the size of the hoot, its about the CONTENTS of the smoke or vapor. Volcanoes can make bigger vapor hoots than bongs....

You need to think about it. If I huff gas I will get high too, but it doesnt mean it has higher THC content.

The vapor from a vaporizer is higher in THC content then ANY other form of smoking weed. Doobies would be the second. These are facts, do the research if you dont beleive me.

Any experienced member here will agree..

To further prove this excellent point, try this next time you're bonging. Between hits, try breathing normally a few times. See if you get the same high.

I have noticed that when people smoke or vaporize, they kinda forget to actually breathe. Probably because they imagine that the smoke they're inhaling contains oxygen.

I would also like to add that the depth of inhale is very important for getting high. A strong inhale will fill the lower 2/3 of your lungs. The gases accumulated in this part of your lungs escapes harder than the one in your upper 1/3. Thus, inhaling strong will make you keep THC rich smoke/vapor more in your lungs.

PS: If someone sent me a PM, my inbox was full so plz send again.

Haha, yeah so true, even when Im vaping, sometimes Ill space out and realize Im not fully breathing. Its just kinda natural when you blaze to sit back and relax and breathe less. A lot of the "stoney" high is lack of oxygen, if you take a couple big breaths it goes away instantly.

Yeah like Dr.C said, next time your smoking your bong, after you take a hoot, right away take a few big breaths of fresh air... Just to prove the point.

Even when I blaze, right after a hoot of a bong I normally wait, even after I blow it out, because it gets you ripped

Im not ragging on you or saying dont do it, I do it all the time, when I just wanna get Slayed.

Vaporizers are also THC vapor and oxygen, when I haul on my vapordaddy Im pulling fresh air past a hot element then through the weed, so Im not totally starving myself of the oxygen, and I get the Real High of the different types of herb.

This questions was just on a show called Manswers on TBS.
My figures may not be exact nor do I claim this source to be right, but sounds about right to me.

% of available THC: Joint=28% bong=78% vaporizer=92%

I am guessing the low #'s for a joint are due to wasted second hand smoke and as THC vaporizes far below the temp of a burning joint, it is plausible that much vaporizes and is lost before actually smoked.

I have always felt like some of what is filtered out in bong water contributes to the overall high, this is why a high from a bong feels a little different. This is just my thoughts...Now for some science!

I am quoting from my Cannabis Doc's book from Chapter 9 entitled "difference in inhaled (smoked, vapor) vs eaten cannabis"
The chapter cites a study sponsored by CA NORML and MAPS (multidisciplinary Association for psychedelic studies) which found that "contrary to popular impression, water pipes don't necessarily protect smokers from harmful tars in marijuana smoke. [...] The reason is that water pipes filter out proportionately more psychoactive THC than than they do other tars, thereby requiring users to smoke more to reach their desired theraputic range."

Translation: THC is actually partially water soluable (not very much, don't worry and don't drink your bong water!). Bongs do not filter tar very well, they actually filter a little THC. (think about if you smoke that big binger load in four or five one hitters) The reason people hear that you get more tar is you may have to smoke more bud to get high therby smoking more tar. Bongs do not somehow increase the amount of tar in cannabis.

And as for moist air/smoke causing pneaumonia...This is either caused by a bacterium or a virus. Not a rainstorm! The cooled moist smoke is one reason why you can take a bigger hit. And your vaporizer is much nicer with a moisturizer (a bubbler for the end of the whip) I bubble mine through a small clean bong. Much easier on the lungs. No yes if you have some sort of respiratory infection...dry air may be better for you.
