Water Cure Vs. Air Cure

so I am reading about the water cure method and I am curious to SEE the difference between air cured bud in the finished product. According to my readings water cure compromises on the after weight of the cured bud..... however its is stated that the bud is tastier and more potent and takes less time to finish.. So I would like to know you guys opinion and if you have any pics of finished product of water cured buds....

If you have accidental seeds, won't they germ if you water cure? I guess it doesn't make a difference, but something to think about.

water cure gives a muchmore potent bud by weight. it comes from the fact that water doesnt damage trichomesbut it does take away some of the weight of the leaf. i dont think the taste is affecting a great deal.

also when you water cure let your water sit out for at least a day. if the water is to hot it will damage the bud and if it is to cold trichomes will freeze and break off much the same way that they do in water hash. peace love

i didnt but i remember reading a bunch of threads on this a while back and for the most part, people fucked up the water cure and werent impressed and bad mouthed it

but the people that actually got it right said its taste was incredible but the smell was diminished a little bit

i think the water cure is a little scary for people that havent done it before so they dont do it... just like me but what i think would be a good idea is to water cure only like 1/4 of your crop and air cure the rest... that way even if you do fuck up the water cure your not ruining i whole crop, and if you dont fuck it up you have buds to smoke in a week while your waiting for the rest of your crop to finish in the jars

sorry i dont have any pics or actual experience but thats what i plan doing this harvest and id like to see sum more people do it just so the water cure method spreads and we can get more experienced opinions on it

I think that most of you folks are mistaken. Water cure does not improve the taste -- it actually diminishes the taste. However, at the cost of a lesser taste, it will make the bud incredibly smooth to smoke. Visually, the bud will also look a lot better as much of the chlorophyll will be removed by the water.

how does it diminish the taste? the water is pureifying the buds like you said by taking out all the nasty shit.... therefore making the final taste better

and actually it hurts the bag appeal ...

agree with everything except the looks. Mine was extremely smooth but didn't smell or taste of very much which could be good or bad. It was stronger, but mine looked horrible it was all compressed and just a funny brown colour, if someone had tried to sell me it, and i didn't know any better i wouldn't buy it cause it looks shit, thats just my experience.

You see, marijuana draws its flavor and odors from the very volatile terpenoid compounds, as well as cannabinoids (which are phenolated terpenes). As the marijuana ages, the terpenoids go through polycyclic aromatization during the decomposition process. This agglomeration of terpenoids changes the flavor of the bud.

Though terpenoids/cannabinoids are not very soluble to water, the water nonetheless draws out a portion of them, thusly reducing the taste. Also, the water ever-so-slightly hampers the terpenoids from their metabolic processes, furthing the degradation of taste. And finally, the intense drying that many put their buds through after the water cure process causes the terpenoids to evaporate, reducing the taste even more.

So in layman's terms, YES, WATER CURING DOES REDUCE FLAVOR.

"Chlorophyll is not soluble in water"

You get the bad taste from the Chlorophyll still left in the nuggets after drying.
When you water cure your filtering the weed, changing the water everyday. you get about 15% less yield from regular drying i think but your weed becomes way more potent.

Im doing a water cure as we speak...the 7 day one in a mason jar with holes in the lid, Im only on day 2...I did it because I had this lil plant that flowered and never seemed to stop, but its been confused and stressed and I just discovered it starting to go hermi, so I decided to water cure it...the bud it pretty premature, a lot of white hairs and not that thick of nuggs, but its still worth it...I am wondering though...when I turn my jar over to drain the water each day...I feel like all the bad dirt and lil bugs and shit that has sank to the bottom of the jar, is just staying in the jar and getting caught up in the nuggs again, since the nuggs fall to the jar's lid when I drain the water...anyone know if this is probably happening??

water curing sounds like something worth giving a shot, but i wonder how it works with dry/drying bud. so far i've only read that it has to be fresh. haven't seen anything otherwise yet.

Everyone says it makes your buds taste better except you. Well I hope you are wrong because I just dumped my buds into water, to get a better tast. I went from tree to water. Did you use a food dehumitifier?
