Water distiller

I red that distilled water is good for humidifier and for plant water ifso I was think of buying a water distiller anyone have any experience with the 100 dollars ones that take a gallon and steams it for 4 hours then it’s distilled water ? These work

I find it cheaper to just buy distilled water in bulk, 0.23 cents per gallon, than to use something like you are suggesting. For example, say you buy a 600W pure distiller unit, which can process roughly 4 gallons of tap water in 24 hours, it would cost you around $2.80 to $3.20 in electric to run the distiller for 24 hours, which is pretty much the same price for buying distilled water at your local store. Anyhow, like I said, for someone like myself, needing 500 gallons of distilled water every few days, buying in bulk is my only option, But if you only need 3 - 5 gallons a day something like that "zerowater" pitcher is a pretty good deal, because each filter costs roughly $12.00, and each filter can process around 38 gallons of tap water with a pH that is less than 300ppm. So do the math... you can make 38 gallons of distilled water for each $12.00 filter, which comes out to roughly 0.32 cents a gallon, which is less than half the price of running a distiller with its resulting water costing you 0.65 to 0.80 cents per gallon.

Unless you like the environment and don’t want to throw 50-100 gallon jugs away per grow

You should NOT water with Distilled.. Many reasons - One is it contains NO dissolved O2! If you use it for popping beans - It's more likely to kill the beans then supply healthy sprouts. The seeds NEED that O2 to aid in initial growth factors...

You have other reasons I posted in your other thread too.

Now I am just talking about humidifier. Distilled water for that ?

Always use distilled water with evaporative devices. Mineral build up, scale will ruin them after deteriorating performance. I personally use and old pressure cooker with silicone hose attached the the pressure stem. This connects to 30' 3/8" copper tube that has been coiled using a frozen water mandrel substitute. This run through a 30 gallon igloo cooler full of water and extruding through the drain port. Where the run off is collected. I only get 60% yield at best. But any heat source anytime.

This set up is a potential bomb. Do not attempt without making sure all lines are clear and unobstructed at all times. I do not use clamps on my connections as a safety measure. They will faill before the cooker explodes.
