That is a good idea . Use a motor rated rheostat , aka , a ceiling fan speed control from your home improvement store

What about a simple ball valve?
Or something like a bypass installed so only a portion of the stuff is getting pumped out while the rest is simply recirculated?

I have a 3666 gph Flotec sump pump, I use a timer that can spray for 5 seconds on/ 20 minutes off. in the 5 seconds my sprayers are on about 3 gallons is pumped out.. all 1-1/4" PVC and pvc turn valves(home depot) to adjust the pressure to each box. two methods I use, but get the right timer, its worth it if your spraying roots($75-$100)

My hydro setup isn't complete atm.. I'm most likely going to have a 15gallon res with a 3x3 flood tray
I thought about that but assumed you could only use it on fans?!

The pressure valve is a good idea. It probably wouldn't be hard to install neither.
