Has anyone ever used water from a water softener in their bong? does it leave a funny taste or any residue behind? are there any added health risks by using water softener water?

Water softeners take stuff out of water, not put stuff into it.



You will be fine. Infact, hard water leaves more residue than soft water after drying

I thought it put some sort of salt in the water. I know you usually shouldn't drink water out of a water softener.

This is a myth. Yes, there is slightly more salt in the water but not at a level that will ever hurt a healthy human.

The salt is used to clean (ionize) the material which removes the particulate that makes the water hard. So, it's simply a flush and the softener will rinse the remaining salt from the system. How often the cleaning material needs to be cleaned is based on how hard your water is and how soft you want it to be.
