Okay, time to come out of the shadows.

Been lurking for years while doing a few soil grows before deciding to switch it up to the waterfarm after drooling over my heroes Scottyballs and Dr. Amber Trichome's grows.

Had a mildly successful first try with 3.5 zips off a free Northern Light Blue from Attitude. I grow in a 4x4x8 Gorilla with a 600 watt Hortilux Eye in a Sunleaves reflector on a dimmable Phantom ballast. I am trying to duplicate the infamous Scottyballs this grow with a PE and Flora Nova Bloom and am on day 15 since germ. Ph is 5.8, ppms 600.

Looking good Daoist! Looking forward to seeing your progress. I am also thinking about buying a PE seed. The thought is ... go with something that is proven to yield good in a waterfarm. Its just that I have so many seeds and I am trying to find a good strain from something I already have.
Was your Northern Light Blue from Delicious seeds? I have 5 seeds of that and considering popping one soon.
Can you post pics of your Northern Light Blue?

I still can't wrap my head around how to start a seed directly in a waterfarm. I understand that you start it in paper towels and put it in when the tap root shows. I just can't imagine that the hydroton would hold the seed in place like that. I will try it with my next seed.

Yeah was a Delicious, had a full set of pics from seed to harvest but dumped them when I switched phones last month. It was an easy grow 30 day veg and 55 day flower with an Uncle Ben's topping so I had four good sized colas. i top chopped those and then let the lower growth bulk up for 8 more days (first time trying that) and was quite pleased with the extra weight they put on.

I must have gotten the sativa Blue leaning pheno cause they stretched like crazy.

Did a one month cure and loved the smoke. Berry notes with pine and spice. Very cerebral high, zero couchlock, kept wanting to clean the house (wife loved that) especially post Christmas. Will definitely grow again. Wanted to Scrog her but the gorilla tent was new and between the holidays and that madness didn't have time to build a new screen, but if you get that Blue leaning pheno I think she would respond well to scrogging.

As for how to start, I had been using rapid rooters with good success in soil and did it again in the waterfarm and worked out perfectly with the Northern and did it again this time with the PE and so far so good, but you can just put your germed seed directly into the hydroton from all the journals I have read, but I am a firm believer in if it ain't broke don't fix it, so I used the RR.

hey x.man and Daosit, I also have a PE going im using GH maxi bloom. I germmed mine in coco then before the first set of leaves came out I just sat it in the hydrotron worked a treat
just to confirmim growing in a waterfarm also

jz, I continue to have problems with this site. I use MH for veg and HPS for flower. I have a dimmable Lumiteck ballast. I start off seed in rockwool cube mH veg bulb at 350 watts, bump up to 400 watts and at 4 weeks change my bulb to HPS 12/12 flower for start at 400 then bump to 600. I use a Adjust a wing reflector. NO fresh intake in winter but exhaust out with filter all the time. scrog screen down when she gets about a foot high, I like to top at least 2 to 3 times in veg. pumps running 24/7 .. one big air bubbler down in the bucket and the drip ring air always on. Highly recommend the extra res and recirculating system so you wont be a slave to adding back a gallon or 2 everyday. I never used leds, from what I seen , they dont produce the dense thick buds or the yield that HPS does.

Good Morning Brother oddlifter.I Did See your pm And I Do Answer Them In Order However Im Taking A Break And Catching Up On Things.But I Will Answer Your Question.No You dont Have To Remove The Screen For Res Changes.Most WaterFarmers Use 12x12 Inch Square Landscapping Stones To Raise Their Res Up Then Use The Drain Tube To Drain Into Some Type Of Bucket.I However Have My Screen Attached To The Top Of My Bucket And I Use Pvc Stands To Lift My Roots Out Of My Bucket So I Can Sterlize My System,Plus I Give My Roots 15-20 Air Bath.

I never steriliezed my system before. with just the waterfarm bucket I don't thick you really need to.
With the extra tubing I now use with my additional rez, I noticed some major build up in the tubing, like the Flora Nova nutes sticking to it.. this was in Flower. I never did nothing about it , and everything was cool cool. Got 13 oz of the ARC, exceptional health and nice thick dense dank buds.
