Watering an indoor bed

Hey guys,

I'm just curious how you guys go about watering an indoor bed of living soil, any tips or tricks to make it easier? I currently use a manual gas transfer pump to drain my saucers and my plan now is to use that to water the new bed-I've got the tube taped to a bamboo stick, so I can reach in the back-it's super janky, I love it. It should work okay, but I'm more than open to any better ideas, please drop some stoner ingenuity on me. My arthritis has gotten really bad this year so anything to make my life easier is much appreciated.

Actually, I've never taken care of an actual living soil bed indoors before, just large pots. Any general watering tips? Some people are saying to water around 5% of the volume. I know watering will be my biggest issue after my current coco run.
Thanks!

I use 30 gallon plastic garbage cans as reservoirs. I cut plastic pex plumbing right to them with a valve to fill them. Then I use a sump pump to a garden hose to a garden hose sprayer with 24 inch wand. The sump pump pressurizes like a normal hose would. I use 30 gallons to water a bit over 300 gallons per bed 2 times a week. The wand attachment makes the task much easier. I also roll around everywhere with a cheap computer chair. Any confusion in how i've explained that just ask.

I was actually hoping for an answer like this, I was thinking along the same general lines. I like it. I love my garden wand for outside. I was stuck trying to think of what I could attach the wand with-needs a normal hose so I thought maybe a pool cover pump. What kind of sump pump do you use? Thanks for answering!

C Sprayers hooked to water meter. 150 gallons of soil i water a total of 7.5 gallons. 1 gallons of that comes out my pump sprayer. with that 1 gallons we have made 3.5 gallons of aloe feed. That is made by chopping 1 cup of whole aloe leaves, blend in ninja blender, strain through 1 gallon 45 micron Wacky Willy mesh bag then divide that into 3 portions. The 1 gallon sprayer gets a third of this mix then is filled with water. I spray the top layer of mulch down with about half the gallon of aloe. I also spray the plants during this process. Once I have used 1 gallon, I kick on the sprayers and spray 5 gallons of water through the sprayers. This is measured by a water flow meter. Right about the time Ive sprayed 5 gallons, my reminder of aloe feed is empty out of the sprayer. I repeat this process with the other bed that has 220 gallons of soil. Takes me 20 min total to water both beds and clean up.

I just use a 40 or 50 dollar hardware store brand. I have big fish tanks so its very similar to filling those.

My Aunt uses PVC pipe to help her water her garden without having to move from one spot. She has 4x6 beds with her veggies growing. She uses 5.5' of PVE with one end capped, and an elbow facing up on the other. She waters in the hole of the elbow... and has holes drilled every 4" in the pipe to disburse the water all the way down. Pretty nifty idea.
