Ok, i have 6 plants under 6 100 watt cfls. temp at 75. i watered them and they did fine for seven days. then once i checked to see if they needed watering they were almost dry to the bottom of the pot so i took 3 out and watered them. i came back an hour later and the leaves were praticaly touching the floor as is common with overwatering. so i decided not to water the other three for fear of the same results and the next day i checked them and to my supprise, the other three were bone dry(not just the soil but the plants themselves) i was at a loss for words. can anyone guide me in the right direction or possibly just explain how in the hell this happened?any comments would we much appriciated.thnx

If your soil is dry, water... Water until you start getting runoff, then stop immediately... After you water your plants, They will droop for up to a couple of hours, I dont know about touching the floor droopy, but they do droop a bit. What is the humidity in your grow room.. If your rh is dry, This will cause your plants to drink water more frequently....What size pots? How far along are the plants? These are questions that need answered in order for you to attain the answers your looking for....

You need to set up a watering schedule that does not stress the plants the way you are now.
Start by flushing every pot. If the plants are in 3-gallon pots pour 3 gallons of water on the
plant and let drain. Let them set for 2-3 days then check to see how much moisture is retained
in the pots. I do this with a 12-inch bamboo skewer. Push the skewer into the soil all the way
to the bottom of the pot. Wet soil will cling to the skewer and you will be able to see it. Water again
when the skewer is mostly all dry.

I avoid these problems altogether by watering every day. Smaller plants, 1-2 feet tall, get 8-12 ounces a day
while fully grown plants receive 16-24 ounces daily. If you notice runoff 15 minutes after watering
then you need to dial down the amount of water.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Ok ya thats exactly how i check the moisture in my containers(with a skewer).i water until i see the first sign of run off then i stop. usualy the water has drained within 5 min.I keep fluxuating between overwatering and underwatering i cant seem to find the appropriate time to water/not water.
