Watering question? +reps

Just started my first grow. Using the Ebb & Grow system with 12 pots. Germinated my seeds right in the rockwool right in the hydroton. I have 2 plants that are a little of 1 inch tall now and I am wondering how often I should be watering them at this stage? I havent started my rez yet because I am not sure when I should do that. I have just been hand watering them.

THANKS!!!!

Start your res. that's what it's there for. Just must sure the rockwool and hydroton do NOT dry out (depends on the humidity and temp of the room) and if you're vegging or flowering. Basically low low nutes. i'd start 100-200 and slowly over a few days start bringing it up.

Ok thanks! I asked over on the hydro section about when to start the res but nobody ever answered. lol When I checked this morning one of the plants that is a lil over an inch looked in bad shape. It was falling over and just sad looking but the rockwool looked dry so I watered it and will check on it in a lil bit and hopefully it perks back up. My temps were running with lights on 68 and with lights off 63. I was getting concerned this would be too cold so I unplugged the cfm fan and now the temps are running at 77. Humidity stays in the 60s. I checked my tap water with the ppm meter and it read 250. So what do I do about that?

Thanks so much for your input!!! I appreaciate it!

I run 3 of these CAP egg&grow setups and from start to finish is x3 flood at 30 min each one works great.

veg 18/6 flood at lights on and a flood at mid light cycle then the last at lights off.
follow the same flooding for flower 12/12 and do not floot during lights off!!! any Q just ask or PM me

Thanks so much! I have read that most people flood for 15 minutes at a time... On the timer do you set the res timer up for 30 mins because I was wondering say for the 15 minutes that if you set the res for 15 minutes does it actually flood for 15 minutes because it takes time to fill up the buckets so then technically it would not be flooding for 15 minutes? If that makes any sense. lol

What do I do about the ppm since my water is already at 250ppm?

each tab on the timer is 15min so flip x2 tabs. yes it does take time due to the hose being 1/2 in and the shity small pump that comes
with the kit. Im curently working on a uprade to the pumps and 1/2 tubing, im upgrading to 5/8 3/4 in tubing and a larger pump.
not needed in your case due to low bucket numbers, but if you run like 30+ a upgrade is good. also look into geting a filter bag
for the pumps there a mesh bag that goes over the pump to keep out chunks and partiles from the hydrotron. if there seedling
I wouldnt feed them nutes 250ppm out of tap water is fine but your PH needs to be 5.8

Here are some pics maybe this will help...

This is one of my 1 inch plants. This one and the next one both looked like this yesterday and now look at the next one...

the flood line on this system is 3 in. bellow the rim of the bucket so make sure your RW cube are right above the
flood line with just alittle touching to absorb water, once roots get going there are some advancded stuff like
raising the bucket above the cammand bucket to help drain the left over water out of the bucket, but your
not at that point yet. from the pics i see your hydrotron is high

to not disturb them now sinse there planted you may need to hand water the cubes withph 5.8 water
till roots get going

Im not sure about the tabs u r talking about. I think mine has a dial to set the timer... Ill have to double check that. I have been hand watering them at a ph of 5.8.

I believe the hydroton is about 2 inches from the top and the rockwook is set down in the hydroton. I played around with the res when the pots were empty just to check it out and did notice a problem with draining all the water out of the buckets. I was thinking then that I would have to raise the pots. I have been hand watering daily with a ph of 5.8. So I shouldnt start my res yet then??? Or should I start it and just use the phed water without nutes? When should I start adding the nutes to the res? I know Im totally clueless right? lol Sorry! And thanks for all your advice. It is much appreaciated!

go ahead and fire it up with plain water ph 5.8 your seedlings are far from needing nutes, the tabs are on the 24hr timer on the control box il post a pic of how mine are in a bit. also keep hand watering just incase theres not good root development

Hey Hellraizer...How long have you been using this system? It seems like it will be pretty easy once I get it all figured out.

Thanks. I just pulled 2 out because they died. Not sure if it was from the temps or IMG_0313.jpga water issue... Who knows....

that sucks man probibly was lack of water or did you pre soak those RW cubes to stablize the PH in them?IMG_0295.jpgheres how I raised them when time comes

Honestly, I would hold off on the rez until roots are established. It does you no good to be flooding them at this point, since they are set pretty high in the buckets. I'd hand water until established, then turn the pumps on.

If I dont start the res now how will I know when the roots are established without pulling out the rockwool and possibly damaging the roots if they are established? That is what I am worried about. I think I might just start the res now and keep hand watering until they get a little bigger maybe...
