Watering Question

hey all just wanted to ask a quick question i remembered happening from my earlier growing days. i had 4 plants in a 4x4 tent with a 600 watt hps light.. i was growing in soil with liquid nutrients.. everything was going great and the plants were healthy as can be. but before i switched to flowering nutrients i gave the soil a good old flush... i was using 20 ltr pots and i must of put a good 15 ltrs through the soil maybe more and waited untill the run off stopped then i gave them the bloom nutes.. after i did this on all but one plant the side branches just lost their strength and the plant lost strength the leaves wilted for a good 24 hours... after this the plants picked right back up and it seemed to be very rewarding... id also like the add before i did this the plants were completely dry and the pots were light.. im just wondering if its possible to run too much water though a plant at one given time? or is this a normal thing i cant say its ever happened again on that sort of scale

Its a delicate balance in soil between O2 and H2O. Ive always said its not so much how much water u give ur plants but the length of time in between waterings so the roots can breathe. Cannabis naturally can be a bit on the dry side with no probs. If in doubt buy a moisture meter and see. Good luck.

Use the 50% rule....60% in flower...weight the plant after watering, when it loses 40-50% of it weight then it is time to water again...

I don't know weither i explained correctly but they were due for a watering anyway and were completely dry and they still wilted so it seemed to be the "amount" of water not the frequency between the watering its defiantly not over or under watering issues

thats odd but weirder things have happened. but like southerner said its kinda pointless to flush at that point. the little bit of veg nutes still in the mix when going to flower will get ate up pretty quick.

Gotta be over watering thankfully they would of been drinking a lot at that time and pulled enough water from the pot to drag more air in, the temporary wilt is definitely suffocation (overwatering)

My plants usually do that too. I wait until they are pretty dry so I don't risk overwatering. Then after I give them a good water, the leaves droop until the next day. Then they're up at attention! Im still on my first grow so take it for what it's worth.
