watering when out of town

I have to go away for a week and I'm getting worried about water retention. (Outdoor in planters that are used to being watered every other day) I've seen the local pro-farmers cover their soil with plastic wrap (with a hole for the stalk of course) to hold moisture down. Ever hear of such a thing for cannabis? Or any suggestions how to maintain moisture over say four days without a drop (I have one volunteer coming once during the week)? I got some peat moss for covering but it will dry in hours. I am an inventor, what do you think of water balloons, made out of a dissolving material (rice paper?) that release their water over a prescribed time...like 48 hours later...?? Anybody have suggestions what to do?

OK, I posted this in another section (plant problems) and got some good answers you can see there but this is the bomb for home growers with a half dozen plants or so: The BPDOD system, see; amazon.com/dp/B07FFPLQFD/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?_encoding=UTF8&path=%2Fdp%2FB07FFPLQFD%2Fref%3Dsspa_dk_detail_3&useRedirectOnSuccess=1&
comes in a pack of 10 and I'll attach a two two liter bottles to each cover one watering. They come with a valve to adjust the flow for accurate delivery. I'll post back the results.

I like Blumats for this purpose. I actually grow with them all year long and recently went on a 15 day trip and my plants survived. If you are only going for a week, i'm sure there are cheaper options though

EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THESE LEAKED ALL OVER THE PLACE. AROUND THE SCREW CAP, AND THE "METER". THEY WERE EMPTY BY THE TIME THEY MADE IT TO THE BACK YARD. BLUMAT OR SIMILAR SPIKES SEEM TO BE THE ANSWER FOR ME. I MAY TRY THE TWISTED COTTON "ROPE" METHOD FOR THE SMALLEST ONES. THE WEIGHT OF THE BOTTLES TIPS THE LITTLE SPROUTING POTS OVER. THE BLUMAT SPIKES WEIGH NEXT TO NOTHING.

Thank you. The Blumat spikes are the answer.
