Wattage for my closet Growth?

Hi, I'm new to indoor growing so I have a few questions. I have a small closet space about 5ftx2ftx3ft, a few cuboard areas, and a shed outside I was all considering for growing but most likely it will be the closet. I'm looking to spend around $90 for the light fixture and I'm wondering if anyone has any recomendations... I don't know if I should get a 250 watt hps or a 400 watt hps and I don't know where to get one.
 
Check out the light box I made for my CFL's. Modify one that fits your needs if an HID system is going to prove too hot.
 
Thanks, so for a HPS system you need to have how much space and height ? So what kind of light should I use instead?

What are the dimensions of your shed? I would definitaly try to accomidate a HPS for flowering as you will end up with a bigger yeild and a better quality crop overall. Cfl's are great for vegging but should be a last resort for flowering.

Well, you're best bet is to purchase some Coollight(daylight) CFL's 6500k (BLUE SPECTRUM) and some cheap 2 bulb hook ups from wal-mart.

This light system is $119.95. a little over what you wanted to use, but it is worth it.. and asfar as these people saying you're closet is too small for a hps... thats rubbish... If it is 5fx2fx3f.... you can use a 400watt hps.
its made for a 4 x 4 area.
This here is what i recommend tho. for 100 more dollers, you can grow in the same closet, with no need for CFL's.

then after you grow a couple times, buy Air-cooling the lights from link #2 come with aircooling addons, you just got to buy ducting and a fan, look on the site.... you can 2 fans for 36 bucks each, 25feet of 4-6+ inch exhuast for 10 bucks or somthing cheap like that and you have a Dank little setup for like 5-10 plants. well in you're little closet... 1-3 tops 5.... unless you get some Lowryder seeds, they grow a foot tall, SOG them in there with 1 gallon grow bags, you could fit 10 of them easy.

By the time you reach the level where you need to choose CFL or HID for flowering I should be in full swing flowering under CFL's and trying to expand the spectrum in parts to attempt to get the same tight resinous results as a hps flowering system. You can base your decision on that or many other people who have tried the CFL's for flowering.

I would go with some norther lights. Easy to grow indoors, high yields and low odor. Although, I have discovered that low ordor just means not as fuckin smelly as plants with a lot of odor, but still fuckin smelly...
