Way Too Hot

hello all, Im doing a closet grow in my apartment i have 9-42watt cfls(soon to be more) at 2700k and i have a 6in. can fan and filter, with 5 beautiful clones, im not able to do much construction so the can fan just circulates the air within the closet. the temperature has been staying around 90 degrees F i have been lookin gfor a floor fan but it is now winter and all the stores have heaters now. I need some advice on what i can do to cool it down in there, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks:peace:

What's the temp in the room outside the closet? If you are circulating air well then the solution to making it cooler in the closet is to make it cooler outside the closet. Turn off heat, open a window, whatever.

on my closet grow i use 1 fan , i put it diagnolly so it will blow air directly at the top of the plant and on the bulbs .
i have no problem with it . but im not runing 9 CFL's , and my closet isnt sealed shut , so air can move around thru all the parts of the closet
and thru the cracks betwin the doors .

in general , if i were u (what i did in my grow box design) - i would put 2 pc fans for intake at the lower part of the plant .
and 1 outake pc fans at the top of the box (as hot air is light and would move up).

if the closet is sealed your not doing much but blowing the hot air around inside there. you need to setup that can fan as an exhaust

The temp outside the closet is around 75, i do need to set the can fan up as an exhaust but im not able to cut any holes in the walls or doors, i will get some pictures as soon as i can but i only have a film camera right now. the closet is about 10ft tall, its an older home, i have put a 3 1/2ft by 4 1/2ft board in there so its cut into two 5 ft tall sections could i vent in to the upper half and not worry?

you could vent it to the top half but im not really sure if it will help. seems like it would just build up all that hot as and start pushing it back through the fan. if you cant make any kind of exhaust your best bets to just crack open the door when you can and use a normal fan

i will go to bestbuy and look into the pc fans tomorrow i dont have enough time today with work
I wouldn't go to one of the big stores for something like that. Go to a little mom and pop style computer store and buy one.

Since your place is 75F and 80F is about the max temp you want your plants exposed to, you may want to think about leaving a windows open a bit to help keep your room cool, and you can also try attaching an extra fan and some kind of exhaust hose to your reflector to suck the heat out. But that could take a while to set that up.

well i have an intake fan now at about 12 cfm and i have run a hose from my can fan just out the door and i have cracked open a couple windows and it is mantaining at 78-82F which is much better than 90F. there is carpeting on the floor of the closet do you guys think it will help to take that out?

the carpet wont get rid of heat problems but it would reduce your chance of getting mold on the floor. not a good idea to have plants on carpet cause of water runoff and whatnot
