WB's Grow#2 - CFL+Indica - New growspace - Comments welcome

I hope everyone has been doing well. After a small break to move I am back in action. I have 12 seeds that cracked overnight and I should send them to soil tomorrow. I'm going to try and flower 4 females this time. I'll start with 8 plants. I'm going to try some different things this time.

* Different nutes (the others worked fine, just experimenting)
* I'm going to veg my plants longer this time(I only vegged for 22 days last time). I may veg for 45 days or until they reach 20-24 inches.
* I added 12,000 (2700k) lumens into the veg state to provide the full spectrum of color. Last grow I vegged only with 6500k bulbs.
* Bigger and better grow space.

Other than that, not much will change.

Here's a pic of my bud from the first grow as promised. They were just hung to dry. 21g was my harvest.

I forgot to mention that I'm probably going to flower with a 400 watt HPS that I'm about to order.

How many plants was the last grow for that yeild?
Those shelves look good--cause they come apart right-- I like that.

good harvest wb and i hope this grow goes great.

ill watch this .. when/if u get the 400watter u will notice HUGE diffrence in ur yelids, the smell, the over all size of the plant .. ull be hooked ...hook .. line and skinker bud

I flowered 1 female. 21g dried was my take off of her. It is some good stuff too....lol

Def getting the 400 Watt HPS. I'm excited to flower with it.

Well all 8 seedlings are planted. I've decided to go with 8 plants instead of 12. It's simply a space issue. I'll update with pics of the new babies once they sprout.

ill be waiting to see them poke their heads through the dirt .. its always so boring and kinda slow until u pass seedling stage and head to veg stage and all the new growth starts busting out everywhere

Ill be wathing, set up looks sweet, can we get a pic from underneath that light fictures so we can see all those CFLs? That looks like the coolest CFL fixture I have seen.

I was originally going to try and flower 4 females. However, I've decided that I'm going to try and scrog this grow and instead, use 2 or 3 females. My only problem is. I dont have clones so I have to sex my plants. If I veg them into the screen and they turn out to be male, I'm screwed and I only have 1 set of lights for now. I'm ordering my 400 HPS this week though. Starting a scrog with plants whose sex you're unsure of seems rather foolish. Am I right on this?

haha I made something similiar with cardboard and 2 powerstrips. at walmart they sell bulb sockets that just plug straight into an outlet. I put 3 of those on each powerstrip(surge protector) with splitters and ended up just using 10 bulbs.

It was also in a fairly small cabinet and it got pretty dang hot in there, there have been many upgrades.


Anyways, sorry for the hijack, great reflector design and good luck on this grow! I am vegging under a HPS now and my plants love it, I have yet to see the results my self. Looks like we will be in the same boat!

O.K.... some slight revisions to my plan.....

First I lined the inside of my hood with reflective material. It's the mylar covering used for the sunshield for front car windshields. Also, to give you a better idea of how I am trying to provide an even spectrum during veg I will list my exact bulbs.

(4) - 42watt 2700k(red) = 10,800 lumens
(4) - 26watt 6500k(blue)
(4) - 23watt 6500k(blue) = 10,800 lumens

Total = 21,600 lumens coming from 364 watts of CFL's.




Secondly, I moved some more things around and now I have a full 8' by 5' and 8' height. Plenty of room for a nice scrog. I'm going to build my frame out of some 1/2" PVC pipe and I've already got a 3'x4' piece of chainlink fence. I'll just ziptie the fence to the frame and go from there. This will be fun.



My babies are starting to poke through the dirt. I looked about an hour ago and 8 of the 9 were through the soil.




I've decided that I'm going to do a scrog. I have plenty of room and I'll be ordering my 400watt HPS very soon. My only hurdle will be sexing my plants before I start training them to the screen. I'll figure it out once my other light gets here. I'll have 2 build a seperate flowering chamber and sex my plants before I scrog them. A 400watt HPS can scrog 4 or 5 plants but I'm thinking I'm only going to have room for 2 maybe 3.

Nice update. Glad your girls are starting to come up. I love your CFL fixture. Very organized.

Oh man I like that fixture, cant wait to see those puppies leap for that light. Thell be going through there growth spurt in this week coming up, should be interesting. Never seen this strand grow.......should be cool.

Only thing I can add, is there still seems room to lower the lights, and since there still seedlings and starting to pop through u might as well try to lower it as much as u can.

Robbie, the lights are about 4 1/2 inches away from the babies. Once they get above soil and get rooted good (3 days or so) I'll lower the lights to within 2 inches of the foliage. I just dont want to traumatize them yet.

Thanks for the remarks on the hood guys. It's not the prettiest thing but it certainly serves it's purpose. I hope you guys will continue to check in on me. I've been reading a lot about scrog and I just cant see why EVERYONE wouldnt scrog. It can triple your yield. I think you'll be interested in the results of this grow. I'm sure it will get very interesting.
