Weed Health Issues

Good day gents.

I started growing some weed, and I need to mention this is the first time I am doing it. My setup is very basic, I am growing in a closet and have a 400W HPS lightbulb.

Info:
- Because I am using HPS they have a rather bigger vertical growth
- No air flow in my closet, at night I simply open the door and leave the window open so they can breathe
- I leave them 18-20/6-4 so they are still in vegetative state
- They are in the day 22 since I put the sprouted seeds in the soil
- I am not using any nutrients (just bought some soil from a local store)

Problems:
- They sometimes seem to fall down and I have used some toothpick to help them balance themselves
- They present yellow and dark brown color at their margins as you can see in the pics

Conclusion:
- So far, as I have documented myself before posting, they seem to have been nutrient burnt, but I have mentioned I do not use nutrients.

Thanks for the quick response.

- Still this doesn't explain the yellowish dark-brown color
- In that article it mentions to lower the lights. I can remove the reflective tinfoil around my closet, apart from that is there a way to configure the ballast to give less power to the HPS bulb ?

tinfoil burns plants you cant use it it has to be mylar
from what i can tell by pictures your plants are WAY over stretched meaning their reaching for the light you need to somehow get your light closer, remove your tinfoil and replant your stretchy seedlings
 
looks to me like you've overwatered. try letting it dry a bit more and see if it helps. #1 problem with beginners!
with a 400w above it I don't think that's your main problem
 
They look really small to me for almost three weeks old, or even 2.5 weeks old depending on how long it took for break through the soil. So something else is wrong. At 2.5 weeks old, my plants looked like this:

I don't do soil, but maybe your temps are low, lights too dim and maybe they could use some nutes now?

As EvlMunkee mentioned, I believe I have overwatered, after replanting the soil was a bit hard to break through for the root. Also the distance between my HPS bulb was about 1 meter (3.2 feet) and I have moved it to about 25cm (0.8 feet)
Indeed they are small, too small for almost 3 weeks, but I believe they will succeed
 
Can you post pics? How high did you bring the soil level to? Replanting too high can cause stem rot. And honestly, your plants looked a little too old to replant anyways. I thought that technique was for seedlings? I've never had to do it so I could very well be wrong.

Edit: your height was waaaaay too high, you should be fine with the new height. But you might need to plant more and start new ones just in case those dont make it.
 
You can safely transplant and bury the stem up to the cotyledon, the stem will make more roots for you. Watch your watering levels and in a closet without ventilation I am inclined to suggest that when they are this small you would be better served using a cfl in your early veg. There will be much less of a heat issue for the plant. Just my two cents.

I don't think heat is an issue I feel my skin burning if I stay in the sun but I can keep it with no problem at the plant level in my closet. I have bought some nutrients because I have really documented for hours and hours and it really looks like a Nitrogen deficiency. Indeed CFL is much better for early veg, but I only have 3 x 25W CFL which is a very low amount for 5 plants.

theyre very long cause theyve been reaching for light and they will continue to get longer and stretchier if you dont fix the problem properly.
 
Just wrap a long stem in a loop until you get the desired amount of stem above the soil. Then back fill soil around it. As long as you get the stem underground it will be fine; you don't need to keep it straight.

I went ahead of you, and already put them even closer to the light source now they are 20 cm(0.6 ft) away, before they were like 1.4m (4.2ft) away from a 400w light bulb.
sunni, and others: thank you very much I really appreciate the fact that you are willing to help me solve this. We can do it.
 
Guys, your advice was helpful, plants have started developing new leaves without growing in height anymore. The only problem that remains is that the plants are still yellow. The base leaves of a plant are starting to dry out (or so it seems). I have bought a ventilator hoping the issue is because they are in a closed environment.

EDIT:
1. Can the yellow leaves become green again ?
2. If not, is it a problem if they remain this way ?
