how much do you defoliate? i didnt do much of that with the upper part of the plant all of my sites are getting good light does it help other then letting light throughThey look good. I lollipop about a week before flip. Then I defoliate and clean up shoots on the first couple of days of flower. On week three I defoliate again and really focus on getting rid of anything that will become larf / won't amount to much.
i just got back from walking my dog and its too hot outside today i dont plan on doing anything else to these plants but feed water and harvest then smoke lol hopefully i get enough to last me all winter a pound should be enoughI don't defoliate anything at week 3. It doesn't increase yield or quality so I don't bother. I don't do unnecessary stuff to my plants. It's a waste of time. I'd rather be out in the yard playing with my dogs than fiddling around needlessly with a cannabis plant.
I disagree. From what I've witnessed the overall quality improves increasing the yield of worthwhile material. The colas all look about the same in the end, but anything that isn't catching direct light is of lesser quality.I don't defoliate anything at week 3. I believe removing shoots redirects energy towards more established bud sites. Couple that with defoliation and eventually you'll get a bunch of frosty hard smaller nugs coming up the branches instead of little thin stemmed larfy buds. Larf is fine for making hash and rolling joints, but I'd rather replace it with bigger colas or tighter nuggets.I don't understand why some are so worried about some larf. Removing it isn't going to increase yield or anything. In fact it decreases yield.
I save all my larf for this. It seems like a waste to cut off what can be turned into hash.
i do about the same throughout flower i pluck a few every feeding usually the ones that are old or crispyI defloate a week before flower, and than in week 3 of flower when I can really see what will and will not become good buds. I'll usually lollipop my lower few branches not many. the bottom like 6 inches of my plant from the soil I strip of vegetative matter but that's because I don't want to produce any mold.
By defloating I try to take any absurdly big leaves at the top of the plant, generally covering a top or 3. I always prefer to take a leaf that's where a branch is growing and not where a bud is growing. I'll also try not to take two leaves next to each other on a branch.
When you guys are saying defoliating what do you mean? cause some people will just take every leaf.
