Week left for flowering and plants have turned HERMIE?!

Greetings Massive,

It appears as though I laid down too much stress on my first grow of plants and they have turned HERMIE after beautifully budding for almost 50 days now. :o(

I guess there's nothing I can do now but would the concensus be to chop them down now or wait for the seeds to fully form. Trichs are still pretty CLEAR. I just had to move my five vegging plants into the same room to flower so I don't want those to get pollenated if I can help it.

Started to pull off some of the "seed bulbs" I saw developing but really there are too many to deal with I believe. I'll take the time though if the thought runs that this will cut down on the amount of seeds in the buds.

Can I still expect the potency? I welcome any advice or words of encouragement. I took a lot of care but it just got so hot here in southern California and wouldn't you know it, my neighborhood went down last Sunday for a whole cycle as a result of a blown electrical transformer. See...lotsa stress in the past week or two.

Bless-Dagga

From a first time grower noob I think those look fantastic. I'm curious what strain are those? and how can a plant turn herm after its been female for 50 days into flowering?? sounds odd. Wish I could help but I lack the exp.

Yeah sorry dagga, not much help from me either. But my guess was that it probably was hermie alot earlier but you probably just didn't see it.

I love the blue tones in those buds. :-)

hermy is such an over-used term. a lot of plants show single male pods during the final weeks of flowering. the is a natural occurrence. when the plant does not get seeded it will produce a few male pods in order to seed itself so it may live next year. this is NOT a hermy. it is a female trying to save itself. it is very common. it should have no effect on potency.

Well, thanks for the replies.

I'm sure the condition happened about a week before I confirmed it. I cannot tell if it turned hermie or is just the male pods "fdd.." mentioned. It looks like I did everything there was to stress it in that direction....some heat issues at a time, too much pruning (during flowering as well), electricity went off one day so the light cycle changed then, etc. I accomplished most of this BEFORE I read NOT to. :o(

In any case, I spent hours and hours pulling off all of the pods I could with a tweezer. The plants look strong.

These guys are literally a few days away from harvest so I'm hoping that taking the time will cut out the amount of seeds in the buds, believe that should be the case.

Speaking of...these nugs are solid, thick and carry nice weight!!! There have been plenty of missteps with my first grow but results are so close...I can't wait to taste them!!

Here are a few more pictures of the four plants in one Power Grower Eco. Two of them took off, one was pretty strong while the other stayed pretty small incomparison. ALL of them have beautiful flowers!!

BTW, I took these flowering plants (GRAND DADDY PURPLE) into my bathtub for a quick emergency move away from my vegging babies that just moved into the budding room...just in case. (Wait'll you guys see these in a few weeks - OG Kush Abusive, Shiva Skunk, Sour Diesel, NYSD and OG Herojuana, all in the same Power Grower so we'll have to see how that goes - pushing the limits of space.)

Bless-Dagga
