I mean don't go insane cutting things.
Trimming affects the way a plant will grow quite a bit. But i cna say that it's always beneficial to remove lower fan leaves that aren't seeing any light, anything with less than 5 leaflets is pretty useless in the long run (they should all have odd numbers of leaves, and increase the amount in their new growth as it matures. Early leaves won't matter.
I clip old unnecessary growth to help fight parasites and molds because if they aren't getting much light they can wilt and they can rot. My plant also seems to respond well to having the unnecessary removed.
