Weird puff of smoke when I crack open a bud

Hi guys when I cracked one of my buds open I got like a weird puff of smoke come out of the Bud. It's not in all of my plants. It's Just some of the bigger buds. Is it powdery mildew? I must of smoked about 1 ounce and I have only just noticed it on this new pheno type I am smoking with fatter nugs. I think Because I had so many plants in my grow room, about 10 plants in a 1 meter grow room I got the start of powdery mildew? like, maybe in week 8 of flowering I could of got the start of powdery mildew and didn't notice it just before I harvested? My buds are caked in THC, it's in house genetics those strains are always really frosty, it smells really nice weed and I don't see any mould. I'm just paranoid that powdery mildew could be inside the buds?
I’ve got the same problem. It’s a bummer. OP describes it very well. Can anyone tell us what this is exactly and how to get rid of it? Here’s a video of what it looks like:

Oh yeah, Damn, That's the same problem I had. I think it's mould spores from my research. And you don't want to breathe that shit in!!! It can cause you problems!!! It's caused by too many plants in the environment and too much humidity!!

Totally, the plants this cycle were at 45-50%RH, lollipop, canopy thin, stakes, with everyone wiggling in the wind, 76-82F, merv13, hepa, carbon filters, dried at 45%. I clean every cycle w bleach solution and/or H2O2. I’m a bit perplexed. I just don’t want another cycle of garbage. It’s a bit soul crushing when the entire cycle looks great, no stress, parameters are right, and the only time I see the problem is after the flowers are dried and under fairly specific light conditions.

had the same thing happen to me just now and came looking to see if anyone else had, thought I was going mad but my girl saw it too, My bud is Cali so I wouldn’t expect anything bad to happen to it, I leave it in the car which has moisture in it as it’s cold at night so maybe that it’s

Yeah, it’s gross. Is it weird there’s no webbing or visible discoloring? Is this coming from my soil? I am assuming it is.

I've also had this problem a few times. It happened my last grow and I had to harvest 1 plant early. My humidity was getting very high during lights off so I looked in some of the denser nugs for the start of any mould and found little orange specs close to the stock so I chopped it. A couple buds had the puff that your talking about so I cut out the affected are and tossed it. This isn't the first time I've found the orange dots in the bud hopefully me fixing the humidity at lights out will fix the problem I've got a pulse monitorso I can keep it below 60% humidity at all times. Anyone know what the orange dots in the bud are? I'm assuming some type of mould but I thought bud rot was grey and like cotton almost so it always had me perplexed but it seems If I find the orange dots in the bud I see the smoke when I crack it open.

That suck man...was your lights out humidity in the right zone?
My humidity would spike 15-30% with lights out.

Or it could just be very dry bud that wasnt stored properly. I lived in Colorado and thats what low humidity did. You could break it down to dust within seconds sometimes
I live in one of the driest states and sort of know what you're talking about. I try to avoid it personally but I have had it get pretty dry. When I used to buy it off the street it was like that all the time, super dry. Sometimes moldy too.

It's because I had so many plants in a 4x4 setup, there was 11 plants in there and it was totally rammed in there and I was watering them 2 Litres of feed every 48 hours. I had fans and everything in there. I guess the buds were just so dense it went a bit mouldy towards the end. I even cut the canopy back as much as i could and trimmed them up a bunch in week 3 of flowering and it still didn't help. The buds were too thick and too dense and a small case of mould broke out but only on 1 plant. I'm Pretty lucky to be fair because the rest of it could of gone funny if i didn't harvest when I did
2 litres each every 2 days? What size pots were they in? I was running a sort of closed system in my 4x4, rh was around 80 temps in low 90s. No pm no mold. Ate heavily and grew huge. Supplimented co2 and I vented tent until dry, a few hours at lights off. Live in very high rh area.

You run your flower room at 80 Rh and don't get any bud rot? How is that even possible? If it's 80 rh lights on it has to get to at least 90 rh lights out.
You check all the insides of your dense buds?
It usually only shows in the inside of the bud unless you have it really really bad and you can see it without opening a bud

Any “puff” of anything off a bud when broken by hand will be mold. Trichromes don’t ‘puff’. Happened to a friend of mine, he had no idea till I recorded and showed him what I was seeing. Too bad cause it smelled amazing.

yeah it really is a shame because it looks really good too, kinda mad i've been smoking it lmao but i guess at least its only PM which isnt anywhere near as harmful as botrytis is. sucks but i guess it's all just apart of the learning proces

I'm no expert but isn't the puff of smoke from inside the bud making it botrytis? Isn't pm a white dusty like substance on your leaves?
