Weird watering

I was wondering if it's normal that on both my plant i water every week .. sometime every2 week... my two babies are in flowering.. and the soil contain 40% coco pis 60% soiless .... My best guess is that my coco retain water a lot ... But seriously if i water after 4 days i see my plant not feeling well at ALL ... then if i wait a week and more all the leaves are straight and beautiful.

Well it's working good now but i was just sharing that with everyone .. if you have any idea or suggestion ( dont say im a noob or a dumb ass ) It was my first time mixing my own soil ... i know it's not the best choice i could have made ...

Both first pot before transplant were only coco and it was working fine but i had to water everyday sometime 2x a day ... so i had the brilliant idea to add some soil .. probably not the best choice .. because i had 2 auto's with them and i stressed them with over watering and they stop growing ..

Anyway , any good comments are appreciated .

Have a good one everyone!

What kind of soil are you using? I do the same mix with slightly different ratios (I believe.) I do 1 half bail promix bx, and a bag of Plant-It coco coir croutons. I also add 1 cup of azomite (trace element) because bx is just a blank medium, which i love. It also doesn't hold water like shitty potting or op soil. I would just suggest using a good soil along with your coco. With this mix i water my Solo cup seedlings once sometimes twice a day. If you're running 1000w MH or HPS lights that'll help dry 'em up a bit so they don't stay wet for too long and drown your plant. My guess is you used backyard soil or a meijer or wal-mart brand. Hope this helps, bud.

Thanks a lot man , have a good one!

coco is soil less and a very good alternative to peat moss (since bogs are running low) your mix sounds like its great. have you added any compost to it? you should only need to do this once (maybe twice)

i mix soil perlite coco and compost before i plant. later in the plants life i add some compost on the top layer of soil and water it in during flower.

youre watering the way an expert waters. cannabis loves dry so, so its roots have to seek out and stretch/grow for mositure. they do this best this way. during flower, they require even less water.

tomato soil should be kept a little more moist, especially when theyre fruiting becuase the if the soil dries out, the change in pressure between the fruits skin and the soil will result in cracking of the fruits shell.

Thank you for the reply ! Very helpfull!

I'll try to put some compost and perlite on my next grow ! I know something was missing but i didnt know what. How much % perlite , coco , compost , soil for the mix?

i dont think you need perlite with coco. coco is very airy as it is. the roots produce hydrogen from the air and water in the medium, so thats what youre aiming for, an airy oxygenated root zone.

if you buy compost itll tell you how much to add. mine says 1teaspoon per 6 inch pot every 8 weeks, so i do that every 10 weeks or twice during my grow
