Ok so Im looking at a new rural house for a main grow rooms and I found something but there could be possible issues with the well.So the property has a shared well with the next door neighbor now I can see this as a bonus because if something goes wrong there s two of us to cover the cost but I also see it as a negative because if I cause it by possible using too much water then Im afraid people will come over and start looking at my shit.I mean Im going to be running r/o filter to produce about 200-400 gal a week that equals to about 400-800 gal in total use a week. Can I really use up the well and have to have it re drill or am I just freaking out. Please help Im just a city boy lost in the woods.

Thanx

You have to worry about the rate at which it is using it up, not so much the total consumption. Lets say that it uses 800 gallons a week, thats 115 gallons a day, on top of normal water consumption, that could pose a strain, however, it really depends on if it is going to strain it all at once. If it is a slow, even draw, the water table should replenish it just fine. You have to know how deep the well is as well, that gives you a good estimate on how much of a charge it can hold.

I am assuming that you are running a Hydro system, but if you aren't just get a ppm meter, and if your water is less than 125ppm you should be more than fine to use that in soil/soiless grows. I used to do R/O for my soil grow, and tested my water, which I assumed was crap, and found out it is just fine and saved myself the pain in the ass that R/O is. Shit, you may even save on cal mag as those minerals are abundant in most well waters.

If you drink your well water, and it doesn't taste like much (slight sulfur is fine), and your soap lathers up easily in the shower you should be fine. Swamp water has to filter through bed rock to get in the aquifer so there is no concern unless there is chemical dumping in the area.

Dude my well is tapped into like a underwater lake but I'm the only one who uses it and I drip irrigate 7 acers of tomatoes every year with it the guys that drilled it to me I had enough water to build a community you should be able to ask whoever you pay for using the well what type of water body your tied to if it's like a main vein there should be no problem
