The Senate voted today to withdraw U.S. military assistance for Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen in a 56-41 vote, a sharp rebuke to President Donald Trump for his steadfast defense of the kingdom despite bipartisan outrage over the alleged Saudi role in the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

It’s the first time in the history of the US that the Senate has voted to withdraw forces from a war Congress didn't approve.

Me either. It's all just window dressing. The senate passes a "verbal" vote, which isn't actually enforceable at all, to make themselves look good to the general public. So now they'll have the congress quickly draw something up and send it back to them for another actual written vote.

They of course are doing this knowing full well that congress will take forever to come up with anything. By the time they do, it'll be next year and the democrats will take control of the house. When they do, and vote through that actual legislation and send it back to the senate for the actual vote, the senate will then shoot it down because, you know, dems made the bill.

Politics 101: take advantage of an opportunity you know full well you don't actually ever have to back up.

Sad part is most Americans did not realize we were in Yemen or where it is on a map

We are not out of Yemen. The House will not even bring it up. And if they did, and it passed, it would get vetoed. The GOP in the Senate want to look tough without actually pissing 45 off.
