I am a new grower in need of assistance. I went out a bought 2 42w cfl with 2700 lumen output. How do I know what spectrum it is? Im Currently in veg state and need a couple red spectrum from what I hear for flowering. How do I know what spectrum it puts out?

If they were bought for home use, they are most likely 2700K. If it doesn't say on the package, does the bulb look more red or blue when it's on?

You need to get the blue looking ones for veg, it should say daylight. I suggest you don't start growing yet. You don't even know which lights to get.

Your first grow is all about trial and error. That's how you learn what works and what doesn't and it'll give you a better idea on how to up your yields for your next grow. It's all about learning as you go, so try not to be discouraged by people. The best advice I can give you is read, read, read. And when you think you've got a pretty good idea, read some more. This is a plethora of information on this site for you to look through.

But what I would recommend is adding more lights, and keeping the light coverage as even as possible, with the lights about 2-3 inches away from the plant.

Good luck man!
