what affects trichrome production

i am on my second grow and wonder what affects trichrome production. My first grow my plant produced a decent amount of triches.

In saying that what are the determining factors that make triches. I have read that each plant is different but there have to be ways to hinder triche production.

My plant was undergoing really bad nute deficiency. I did a flush and added epsom salt for a week and the problem seems to have gone away but i now have two or three fan leaves left. How much does the number of fan leaves affect production?

i am in the 5th week of flowering and still dont have any triches. Is it a late bloomer or did i hinder triche production?

Which nutes help production?

Will the plant still produce a decent amount or will the few that i hope develop mature before it takes off?

Any info on triche production would be appreciated.

i would think that the number one factor for trichrome production would be strain choice.. some strains are known to have much better resin production than others.. this is why most hash producing countries grow mostly indica plants and not sativas.. places like afghanstan and the hindu kush region have grown stoney strong indica's for many years.. and there is a good reason for this.. indica's tend to produce more tric's than sativa's.
but i have also heard of other things affecting tric production.. i heard that trics are used by plants as a kinda of natural sunscreen, and that the plants use the trics to protect themselves from the sun like we would sunscreen.. so i would think that a higher powered lamp would produce more trics than a lower powered lamp would when growing the same strain.. this is only a deduction that i came to.. i think it only holds true if in fact that trics are indeed a sunscreen for the plants...
i would also imagine that good nutrients and a generally healthier plant would aid in tric production.. give a plant all that it needs to be happy in life, and it will help with tric production..

So there is nothing i can do and i didnt cause them to not produce yet.

on my first grow i used Stealth Hydro nutes and all flourescent lights.

This time around i am using Techniflora and veged in flourescent and am flowering with HPS.

have you grown this strain before or seen the mother plant? That it what you can expect for trichome production. Depending on what strain you are growing, it could take 9 weeks to flower, and the last 2 weeks could show a big differnce. make sure you are letting your plant mature!

it would help if you mentioned what kinda strain you are growing, so we can tell u what to expect.

Nature + nurture. They are limited by the genetics and then it is up to you to bring them to their potential. That includes everything you do - system, nutes, lights, everything. There is no magic bullet, you have to try to do it all. Same with yield. None of us bring any plant to its genetic potential, but part of the fun is in trying.

thanks for the info. My plants did start producing triches. Both of my plants are taking off since my flush.
I wasnt concerned about the production just wondering if i screwed them or if they were late bloomers.
Hell they were 33" when i started flowering. I am now tying them down to keep them out of my light and even doing that it the Cola is beside the light. They are growing quicker than i can bend them. They are at 60" inches now.
Thanks for the info all.
