What are fan leaves?

Sorry if this has already been asked before. I'm going to start my first grow when my seeds arrive and I'm looking up growing techniques now that I have the basics down. Techniques like LST talk about fan leaves. The only problem is...I have no idea what they are. Anybody care to explain?

the fan leaves r the symbol you see on tv books t-shirts.. your use to the one that everyone see the Mary J leaf 7 leaf+ .
Fan leafs play a big role on the plant because its one of the biggest leafs on the plant that absorbs sunlight for energy.


For the first grow ill take it slow and just grow the plant from seed to mature.. and not worry about LST yet.. untill you understand the steps.

I'm a new grower too and have found some really great information from threads by a veteran grower here. Uncle Ben knows his stuff, so take some time to read at least some of these. I've used his topping technique with fantastic results so far. Four cola plants are so sweet looking compared to the single cola! You can still use lst after topping but you may find it unnecessary as topped plants grow shorter and bushier.
