What ARE the long-term affects of using marijuana?

mj doesn't really have long term side effects, they tend to go away with cessation..but that's not really a factor in anything regarding legality or whatever your talkin bout...
but it can have serious effects on an unhealthy individual. it does effect the circulatory system, heart rate, blood pressure, flow to extremities and organs etc..effects the liver and pancreas(blood sugar levels are a concern for me specifically, I smoke too much) as well. brain excitation especially in individuals without a tolerance is a concern.. and those are the big ones..

I love weed as much as everyone on this website, Probly smoke more than anyone here too.. but it's not a miracle drug. for some reason people forget, it will easily kill a cat or dog, it has the same effect on humans.. under the right conditions it can kill you. people say nobody has died from weed. really? like 250 people just in the last decade. weed will never be accepted pharmaceutically because there are too many compounds at varying ratios that behave differently and interact to produce different effects. when we selected thc it was lacking, we added some terps and cbd. y'all should be happy about that.. it's biphasic nature causes difficulty dosing and correcting for tolerance as well. in another 10 years pharmaceutical applications will be alot further. my favorite is the inhaler, like what asthmatics use. can take huge hits..but people need to leave these companies alone. it's not some sort of conspiracy I promise. doing the best we can. the cannabis community should show more appreciation.
You'll have to site where and how these people died. Dogs and cats are not killed by cannabis either. The LD50 is ridiculous.

It lowers blood pressure and improves blood sugar regulation. So these are effects, but often intended for those using for that purpose. There has been one study that I know of showing what a liver specialist described as minor scarring from prolonged use. I heard the guy speak, I didn't read the study. He wasn't overly concerned and I'm not sure if this was orally ingested or not.

Also, what kills cats and dogs is irrelevant when it comes to humans. Dark chocolate kills dogs. It's pretty good for us in moderation, antioxidants and some other stuff in there.

i found this on the ld50 for thc.. keep in mind, this is for pure thc, and not cannabis per se, which we all know is surely not 100% thc, and we're lucky to be getting say 25% thc on the extreme high end of the scale for bud..

the MSDS [Material safety data sheet] on Delta-9 THC gives the LD-50 as:

Intravenous [rat] 29mg/kg
Intra muscular [rat] 373mg/kg
Oral [rat] 666mg/kg

This is the most current MSDS for Delta-9 THC [keep in mind this is not the data for marijuana, as in raw cannabis, but only the data for refined Delta-9 THC] but all of the LD50 data harkens back to studies done in the 70's, many of which were not set up in a way that would make the data definitive in any way.

I think, that there isn't enough info because research was difficult to conduct under illegal conditions. We will know more soon. My opinion is that it doesn't affect anyone who is healthy (other than some short term memory while your high). Unhealthy individuals should inform themselves well before deciding. A vast majority of the population who doesn't smoke now will be smoking soon, then we will know more.
