don't remove anything..those are stipules

Yes leave them alone. They are part of the plants anatomy.

On the other hand those calyxs that form between the branches are the same thing a bud is made of. At the end of flower when trimming your plant keep those calyxs they are resin glands. (They aren't there yet they will be there when you harvest)
