Been doing some research about these things and just curious to hear what other think about them.... A question that came up to me was will we still be able to have the 1 or 2 lights operating or will that be detected as well, and is outdoor the future ???

The big problem they pose to us growers is that IF the cops are on to you and subpoena your power records, it would no longer matter that you use CFLs or LEDs, it would be the usage PATTERN that will be used. A 12/12 light cycle, while in and of itself is not incriminating, could be another nail in the coffin. Non smart meters only record usage, not patterns

Indeed, like with many things such as heat signatures, it's not proof but it is just that one additional bit of eidence used to build their case against you an obtain a warrant. My electricity company can get fooked if they think they'll install one in my building.

All of the world so far BC and California are the test pilots from what i know .... apperntly they are to reduce your bills but in practice resident have noticed there bills increase again and again, some even say these smart meters are unsafe to be around and could cause cancer, yikes to the ppl whos beds are right next to there meter...

Who says it has to be 12/12? Couldn't you rig up a 30 day timer and kind of randomize the dark/light periods by a few hours as long as you always have at least 12 hours of darkness?

You can run every light in the house 24/7 and it can detect your stove light coming on. I suppose on could randomize the other lights, but to my understanding, it can even detect wattage. Smart meters detect usage in real time, and continually transmit back to the power co.

I was under the impression that Ontario's had them for a while. When I was living there a few months back, everyone was talking about how insanely high their power bills had become.

It's just another government/BC hydro bullshit cash grab. From my understanding, Cali gets most of it's power via a convoluted system of resale, but it essentially comes from BCH in the end. Thus why they have smart meters there too.
