What Causes Stretching? & What is Stretching?

im guessing that my plant is "stretching" as they say, but i dont know n e thing about stretching: the plant is about 3-4 weeks old and its just starting its 3rd set of leaves, but its like 8.5 inches tall wtf lol.. never seen this before, at first i figured w/e probly just the strain but it keeps going, ive treated this plant just like the other ones other then being lazy and not transplanting it(did this with 2 others n they havent done this, so its not that i havent transplanted). obv. i have no idea why its doing this, it went thru some disease when it was younger, i think it was over feeding. but its fine now, second set of leaves came out fine. third ones are coming along nice, but whats with the stretching? there arent even any new branches coming out where they normally would between the main stem and leaf stem, its bare.

any suggestions?

stretching is when the plant is too tall because the lights werent kept close enough to the plant. are you growing indoors?

what size is the container its in?

like one of those starter pots haha (like a pot with about a fist size of soil in it lol) just wondering, i have a good set up, decent knowledge of things but not this

like i said just bin lazy to transplant, i have so many from seed started i just take care of the nicest looking ones i guess LoL

move your lights closer to the plant but not too close(creates another problem). keep the ligh like two inches away.

i would but my lights too hot (HID: 400watt MH, 2 actually, check out my thread on new equipment i got, lots of different kinds of lights
