What did I do wrong with my grow medium?

Just try making it warm as an experiment, even if it goes slightly above 80, don't worry. Just try it for 48 hours, I bet they start to leaf pray in no time ;)

There is another thing you can do as well... Aim the clip on fan at the floor, so warm air is blowing round near the soil. By doing this you will get a more even warmth in the area. Even if you get a 2nd fan for that particular job.

With led there is no intensity from heat. Yes there is light intensity, but he plant needs to be warmer when grown under led.

Set it at 85f for 48 hours...:cool:

I have only one option to get the heat up in there and that's by restricting incoming air a bit more. And I can put my bigger light in, that will make it warmer too. I'll give that a try even so these temps are the same I had in my previous grow, which worked out fine.

I used to use very similiar set up. I have coverted to coco. It dries faster by nature and is not hydrophobic... but try adding a wetting agent to your water while in promix, even a little ivory plain dishsoap or a bottle of wet betty. The bottom watering is a good idea too, and i did that my last promix round as i found dry pockets when disecting a container after harvest. That helps eliminate dry pockets. Just dont add wetting agents when you bottom feed! Water needs that surface tension i guess to create the wicking action bottom feeding uses to suck the water up.

Seriously consider coco... i love it, plants seem happier, it dries fast and doesnt even require being as dried out as promix because of its oxygen holding properties.. its more enviornmentally friendly and can be used longer. nice thing with not having to let it dry so much if you want to expireiment with finding out how many nutes the girls are telling you they need not what the bottle says, you can go light light light on nutes, when you see signs she needs more you can give em to her and not worry you are overwatering her, then adjust your feed schedule going forward...

I made a mistake citing the water volume. It's not a quart, but 1/2 gallon. Most sincere apologies. I'll edit the previous post.

You've got purpling & speed bumps; textbook mag deficiency.

Speed bumps??
Ifyoure right with mag deficiency, then this might go away soon. When I mixed the medium I added a few things like blood/bone meal and some granules that have magnesium, potassium and all sorts of stuff in it. I should've probably mentioned that

When the lower leaves get that bumpy texture between the veins, I call that "speed bumps". As it progresses, the veins will go from purple to yellow and the leaves will also start to yellow between the veins.
Mag deficiency is very common with plants that are growing vigorously. But it also shows up when plants have been overwatered, so you've gotta be careful. I usually just spray with epsom salts when the purple stems appear.

Might not hurt to use more cal-mag, but it might just need extra mag.
From what I understand, calcium & magnesium must be present in the correct ratio to each other. It's possible that your soil has enough calcium but could use more mag.
Another good option, especially during flower, is top-dressing with langbeinite (sul-po-mag). I also like guano, but there are folks here who think it's evil. :twisted:

I'm irritated with myself now. Last grow in actual soil worked like a charm. But I had to fuck with it! I'll add more calmag later in the day, when I water them.

I just looked at them and they've all perked up after up potting on Saturday. I think I'll wait with the watering another day or two.

Watered each pot with 1 gallon of water and fox farm at 1/2 strength. This is actually only the second time they got food. Added 5ml calmag and phd with vinegar to 5.7.
Plants are looking great now and I think this grow will be better than my last.
Being that promix hp doesn't really have anything in it, I added a tblsp per gallon to the mix

They had it sitting at our local greenhouse for like 10$.
Seems to work fine.

I second dunking promix mixes once in a while. I've found it can dry out so much and then when you water you need to do it in intervals of 15 minutes 2-3 times to allow the water to expand the grow medium.

I usually feed mine half the water and when they all had some, I start again and slowly put the rest in.
