Hello everyone thank you for reading this. I have a small closet grow with just 1 plant. She is starting her 6th week of flowing. I am just using a small 150watt hps with some CFLs for side lighting. I live in northern ca. We are having a heat wave here. I just have a small fan blowing above the canopy and just below the light. I also have another fan blowing on the plant from outside the closet. I have around 75-82. But with heat wave thats going on the temp got really high today. So what effect will the heat have on my plant in 6th week of flowering?

a couple hot days is not that big of a deal, but it does stress the plant. running the temps high in general will make the buds fluffy, realy high will cause alot of stress.

ok thank you. what would you say is the max temp for a plants at is 6weeks into flowering, so I dont get fluffy buds? The buds that she does have look amazing.

PEACE MY FRIEND... if you have good ventilation and air flow to the canopy im guessing 82 degrees is your max then your cool.... if it gets higher like 85+ then you have to do your best to lower if not you could very well expect airy flowers and a decrees in growth speed ... are you growing indica or sativa ..i.e sativas can take more heat then a indica

I am growing a cherry bomb from bomb seed. its 90% indica 10% sativa. It just started 6th week of flowering today. The buds she has looks great so far. Today was like 102 here and its going t be in the 100s for about 6 more days here. Really hot like 102 - 108

ok thank you very much for your reply. I have just a 150watt hps. I could keep the temps decent with my fans but with all this heat outdoors its just crazy.

ok ... gotcha this isn't a problem for a couple days but if you want a little more peace of mind then i suggest putting your house ac system on 75 degrees during lights on if you can and cutting off those extra cfl's

thank you for the advice. But I live in a old 1970s apt. I have my plant in the closet in my bedroom. The apt. does not have central air. I only have a AC unit in the wall in the living room. I did turn off the CFLs today and it did drop the temp alttle. I just hoping to get thru flowering, she is week 6 so I think maybe 4 more weeks

I'm in that same heat wave. It's supposed to be 111°at some point. You did not mention if you were in soil or hydro, but i will assume the former. While canopy temps are important, more important are soil temps. You may have to over water for a few days, and do so with 65° water. Also, you can put some ice, especially toward the outer edges of your container, and just let it melt and trickle down into the soil. The average surface area of a 10 gal container would take approx 1 1/2 - 2 cups of ice per "dose." :hump:

I'm near Red Bluff. If you are able to move inside until this heat wave is over - do it! Don't worry about the lighting, they are not going to grow in this heat anyway. You can keep your lighting schedule with any cfl bulb. :)

We've already gone through 30lbs of ice today! They look great, too! My cucumbers in the garden are taking a beating though. :(

I am just using a 3gallon pot with happy frog soil. So how many cups of ice for that size pot? when do I use the ice, morning or night. lights on or off?

I'd say a cup. Just use it 2 - 3 times a day when temps are at their highest. It'll melt and trickle down keeping the roots cool. Don't let it have direct contact with the leafs or stem.
