What flowering week would you put it in?

Thanks! I was a bit worried that it wouldn't finish on time because the first frost is approximately end of October!

Nice, you have plenty of time, based on history my first frost is always by the first week of October. Mine is a DIY cross and long hunt for a pheno that finishes outdoor by last week of September
I don't fret too much about 1st frost if I need extra time, rarely a really hard frost and just being in my yard with some wind protection and off the ground they're usually fine.Here's where mine were yesterday morning... 2x 15gal pots, the countdown begins!

Well sativa dominant strains tend to have longer flowering periods so frost could kill the plant before the buds mature.

Exactly, you have no idea how long your girl will need to flower to reach maturity so it really doesn't matter what week she is in. She will either get there or not. Good luck!

Not always the case though. That cross I have the sativa-dom pheno is the one that finishes the fastest, indoor or outdoor. The most indica-leaning pheno takes the longest at around 63 days. Either way, if you have until end of October you should be fine.

The tops of 2 main branches are not flowering yet, just growing, is this the stretch?

Most, although I have one sativa dom and one hybrid with equal sativa/indica characteristics that started flowering within the first week of July. The seeds mostly came from a long time local outdoor grower, so I figure they must have adapted to the shorter growing season here throughout the generations (although they definitely aren't very mildew resistant...).

Unfortunately the most common reason for early brown hairs is pollination. Any chance there are any males around? Outdoor you can get pollinated from a male a mile away. Any clear close-ups of the buds affected?

Thanks, yeah they had quite a bit of training. I super-cropped them early to generate more branches, then mainlined them into the bamboo trellises that will later support those colas. Then they got a FIM on every top about 2 weeks before they started to flower.
