What happens if your Plant is wider

Your plant will not stretch much at 12/12. Reason is that you vegged that sucker for months!
Mostly when you hear of plants adding 50-100% of height during flowering they are talking about
short veg times. A plant 4-5 weeks in dirt has only reached maybe 50% of it's final height if it then
gets kicked into 12/12. A plant that has vegged as long as yours obviously has, has reached 90% of it's final height
before you even switched the lights. I'll bet your plant does not add more than a hands span in height during flowering.

That thing could veg for another few months if he wanted. its definitely gonna stretch some as it has already since flipping to 12/12. idk where you got your statistics from but they are very inaccurate. not trying to call anyone out just saying. To get even somewhere close to how much growth it has left first off you would have to make a graph of its daily growth. I just saying. Ive seen indoor soil plants as tall as 12' yea thats right INDOOR. Outdoor hell even bigger. Point is that plant still has room to grow. but he doesnt want it. Just like me lol my tent is way overgrown. I didnt even veg for long at all. Growth was normal and then one night they doubled in size. some of the fan leaves are twice the size of my hand..

What Steve is saying makes since and I think your both right and here is why, Plants act differently its like they have there own personality.. Like My plants love the temp at 67-68 and they don;t like ever being over 74,, i found this out this week, I know what books say about temps but my plants say the books are wrong . Also I have a cool LSD plant it loves 200 watt CFLs yes this bulb is 18 inches long, and 8 inches wide, It loves that light. now I also have a LED light, put that sucker under her and she droops bad ya I moved it different it away from it and it did not matter it friggen hates LEDs, yet my other plants love LEDs,, I know its weird but different strains act differently

So to date my plants our averaging over 2 inches a day,, but most of it is width even tho the strong lights are right on top of them like 2 inches to 4 inches away.. IDK growing is a humbling experience.. when my company leaves i'll get you a pic of my set up...

I didn't notice too much growth the first couple weeks of 12/12, but 30+ days they're rocketing tall towards the moon. Wide is fine, but in flowering you're gonna notice significant vertical growth (maybe 2-3 times its height now, depending).

Heres some photos to show the stretch/geometric tweaks, one at 25 days (into 12/12), the other a week later.

(The photo on the right the leaves are sagging due to requiring water, its perky again now).
Sorry for not telling you thanks for the comparison ya you can sure see the difference thanks for going through the trouble and posting that for me.. If your ever In Colorado stop by for a Buttermilk..

then it is tall, she keeps getting wider and wider, she is 53 wide and 48 tall not counting the 10 gal bucket. I'm just on the second day of 12-12 do plants stretch wide to.. Also my flower room got up to 81 today, In veg the temp never reached any higher then 70, Ya I have lifted the lights in veg she just won't stretch high only wide WTF.. I'm just wondering what will happen next ? here she is. The strain is called Magic Mountain..

Dude, that plant is beautiful! If I were you I would build a rail around it so if it starts getting to tall for you area you can get her back in control with some LST. I'll take a bushy plant over a tall one any day of the week. With the right light, temps and CO2 you could yield close to a pound if not more off her. Man you got a winner right there. Whatever you did with that plant remember it and duplicate it with future grows and you'll cut down on the number of plants you have to grow to get the amount you want.

Well a plant you have tied down or what not to make it branch out will grow out as well as high..but really all branches will just grow as tall as they can all at once pretty much...so if you have trained the plant to have a lot of side branches they too will grow taller, which actually makes the whole plant wider...so in a word, Yes plants will stretch up and out or whatever direction you have the branches in

One thing I just noticed is that you're using CFL lighting. They're good for vegging because the temps are easily controlled. That's what I use, but for flowering you can't beat HID. It would be a shame for you to have all those pretty girls and end up with like 5oz per plant when you can easily triple that by getting better light penetration. That's just my opinion.

Thanks man,, I'm trying to do a little as possible with this first plants.. I topped them twice, and they never had any nuts at all. Just real good soil.. There is some great farmers on here. But the only thing I don't do is the nuts.. I still have about 9 weeks to go, So I'm a long way from my goals of 4 OZs per plant.. My ultimate goal is to not have to flush,, I just want as pure a crop as possible.

Mike you ever see CFLs like this before. View attachment 2265082 These are not Wallmart CFLs these babies are a true 200 watt each There 16 inches long and 8 inches wide,, So this is a test run with them, but right now I can't believe how good there working Ya and I have a bunch of these 200 watters and a bunch of side lighting.. But I have to admit HIDs are tried and proven but I'm going to see how these go for now.. I'm into my 6 days of flowering and these plants are exploding with white hairs already in just 6 days... But If I can screw up something I usually do;; Thanks for the help I'll post as things progress...

wow i just learned something about cfls right on. im not to bright on the electrician side of this so do these need a special ballast? where can you get them and the bulbs? im planning on building a cloning box soon for my DIY cloner. I have a 400w in my tent so ive decided on fluros and cfls in the clone room.
