I've done Bag seed and had the whole spot the Male and get rid..some of the Bag seed was quite nice(Lemony, and some pepper-ish ones?) but moved on to PAID FOR and the difference was Night and Day...I went with 3 x Fems 00 Choco Skunk & Delicious Cotton Candy and Bomb Cherry Bomb..all Great(but then I am only at the beginning of what I hope to be a Long Fruitful Journey of discovery) Waffling..when I popped these I also popped some Freebie WWxSkunk#1(REGS) x 4 ~ only 1 was a Male..was buzzing...
Next(apart from Clones) I want to move into Autos..in fact I just in the last week got some KC Brains KC45 Autoflowering Seeds(Regs)

I'd load you a bowl of Ripped Bubba, [my] lime slurpee Chernobyl, or 3 month cured Timewreck with 100% confidence you'd love it. I only moved away from those because 6 - 8 jars of anything is 4 more than I'll ever get through, ya know? There's like 14 other varieties in the cupboard for cryin' out loud.
I think a lot of people - not saying you - take a liking [ or dislike] to a company or breeder for various reasons before they ever actually try any of it. Not me. I also think that lots of people - not saying you - just parrot what they hear. Herms...low potency etc...in about 16 beans of TGA, I'd say 3 were superb, 6 or 7 very good, the rest B's except for 2 pitiful Space Bombs. I'd assume there are a lot of regular TGA 'fanboys' - another parroted tag - that grow the gear for reasons besides Sub's personality or Ms Jill's bong capabilities.

I'm sure there are gems, and TGA has been around my neck of the woods with friends growing it for years. I guess I haven't had something that made me go whoa. And like I said, it's generally tasty. I'm simply a potency/effect kinda guy.
Eta I've never grown tga, but I've seen the gardens (I'm sure grower makes the difference. This guy is simply an adequate grower) if a good trusted cut came my way that would be the exception. I just can't see myself buying that gear when there's a list of other breeders I'd rather try
and yes I do think subcool Is a joke along with his wife.

"growing with MR tight" on youtube grew out the granddoggy purps. Check him out he does alot of strain reviews and has done some recently on CSG
Some on tga strains as well.
I think of myself as very open. Im willing to try anything as long as it seems it will fit me, the high i like, and the flavor or potency i prefer. Money is a big factor as well and unless you have an f5 or f6 your shit isnt worth over 15-20 a seed or anywhere close.
Ive had a few strains suprise me. Ones i got as freebies or ones i bought singles of for a personal stash and ended up gettin a killer pheno.
As for autos i havent grown many but the ones i have turned out pretty well. Nice yield with good potency but nothing over powering and tasted good. Nothing over the top but probably as good as alot of growers reg/fem shit they harvest. hahaha Made some mighty fine wax as well that was super tasty and knocked everyone on their ass.
Id love to be a tester for real companies or a seed redistributing company so they know what to stock and what not to stock.

Like music. I know what my tastes normally are, but I'd have missed out on some great music if I didn't sample outside narrow genres. Hey... even a crap band can occasionally get lucky [ as Red Hot Chili Peppers proved, can get lucky several times]. But I digress........for Christmas, I decided to treat myself to a couple of high dollar fems, and went with Soma [Somango], and was also going to get his Lavender - $29 a seed !! Then I saw where Dr Underground [whoever they are],had crossed it w/ Serious' Bubblegum for < half the price. They both went in to 12/12, along w/ Cheese Dom yesterday. Am looking forward to a cornucopia of bliss, and if I spelled that right I'd be amazed.

I threw a Somango Auto freebie outside last year.
I did it as a joke.
I grew it next to my tomato plants in the garden, and it kicked ass!
I got 2 1/2 oz off of it and it was great smoke. Changed my mind about autos.
I think using the giant star outside as your grow light, makes up for any ruderelis influence.
I have since ordered autos for this summer.
I have five Pyramid, Anesthesia autos. I'm going to run five of them outside. I also have accumulated a few more auto freebies and gifts.
I'm going to start some of them indoors in April and throw them outside when they are three weeks old or so.
If you had asked me about autos last year, I would have laughed... now I'm planning two outside runs with them this summer.

I would be happy because I have no use for regular beans. There are strains I haven't tried because they don't offer fems. Sometimes I buy regs (ran a bunch of bodhi shit) but it's always disappointing. Potency and bag appeal-wise they aren't any better than fems, and getting males is like... I might as well be growing fuckin dandelions, because they are useless to me.

I think that the problem is more that there's a lot of people who seem to feel that their growing skills are perfect, and any problems with the plants they grow obviously come from the genetics. Of course there's personal preferences that come into play as well, but I think a lot of people refuse to accept that they might not be treating the plants as well as they want to be treated. I have yet to 'perfect' my growing skills to a point where I feel like my grows are purely limited by plant genetics, instead I think that they are more limited by my abilities in creating a perfect environment for my plants. They are all different, and they all take some time to get to know, particularly for the indoor growers who have to artificially recreate the climate of the plant to the plant's preferences.
That said, I don't usually take pictures of the plants I decide not to keep, and there's been plenty. If, however, I felt that I was truly given seeds that were bunk, you can bet I would document the shit out of that. When I complained about cali cons BDH feminized seed going completely balls out on me all over the entire plant, I had the accompanying pictures. The one kind of complaint that I immediately disregard is "I bought X and X and X from this breeder, and everything in my room hermed on me" because seriously, your entire room hermed and you don't think it is your fault? I remember reading a complaint from someone on another forum who was running several of Bodhi's appalachia crosses at the same time, and was complaining because they all showed intersex traits on the lower branches. How full of yourself do you even have to be to not consider that you might have had something to do with that.
There's been plenty of growers on here who have complained about breeders I have had good experiences with that, once they actually did post pictures of their plants, my only thought was 'well, come back once you're learned to properly finish a plant and give me your opinion then.'
On the topic of the thread, it's hard for me to envision s1's having a place in b's breeding program, it seems counterproductive to his goals. Rather than simply reproducing elite clones in seed form (as there are plenty of companies who occupy themselves entirely with this endeavor) he creates truly unique and enjoyable high performance hybrids that often retain key characteristics (flavor, smell, effect) of the elite mom. I'm also not even going to touch the concept of feminized seeds fitting in with the more organic minded breeders. I know b's not an organic nazi type, like the breeders who won't let you test for them if you don't do it in their specific growing style *cough*TheRev*cough* but its hard for me to imagine him using something like STS or colloidal on his plants. I suppose there is Soma's method of just letting them run until they intersex, but not every plant will do that, and I imagine if most elites did then there would be even more elite s1s drifting about. Furthermore, often when elite clones are given out, they are given with the specific condition that they not be released in a 'pure' seed form, and not dicking people over on that is why B continues to receive so many wonderful elites; because the people who hold them know he won't dick them over to make a quick buck.
On a personal note, when given the shoice between an s1 of an OG cut, or a cross with a father that could improve either structure, yield, or both, I will go with the reg seeds every time. Even if I don't find the exact plant I'm looking for in the f1 generation, I can make f2s with the most desirable plants and go from there.
