What in gods name is this nonsense...??? Who would USE this?!

well...the balloon thing didn't work...I was afraid to test it by rubbing the balloon [a green one...ya never know!] on my own head so I used the cat instead...all it really seemed to do was piss the cat off...

but! While I was in the bathroom cleaning the bloody scratches on my arms and face I had an epiphany!!

two words....Plant Whisperer!!!!

think about it...:hump:

I don't know about thSeeds, but this was in HydroFarm Catalog. And THIS shit... is nonsense. But I could EASILY see some hippie "organic" freak going nuts over it, and believing that "Plants do need that connection with nature. To get the natural energy that emanates from our earth mother!" sorta shit. If there was a real "Earth energy" that we could quantify and PROVE is beneficial to plants, then we would be well on our way to trying to recreate it.
Even if it DOES exist, we haven't found it yet. Anyone that says they've discovered, and solved an issue... is scamming you.
Solving problems that don't exist.

There are things that work but this sounds like bullshit.

Things that work: bear in mind that both of these studies need to be replicated but evidence seems solid. 1. Plants compete. However, plants related to each other compete much less. In fact, they tend to move towards a co-operative equilibrium. They know they are related by communicating throught the rhizosphere; much work needs to be done on this. Vineyard research, however, speaks volumes. When cuttings are used to create a vinyard and the plants are all related the yields are fantastic (increases of 25% are typical i believe). Having said that, the plants might need to have roots in contact with each other for the underlying mechanism to work: think slabs for hydro or a big 4x8 soilbed for soil.

2. Plants have better disease resistance and yeild better when played classical music: never read up enough on this one. One guy they studied in France had been blasting classical to his grapes for years based on the observations of what happened when he did this. Yeilds and disease resistance increased. No voodoo here: sound units dcan be quantiffied mathematically; again, the final word is not in.

Summary, if i waited for the final results and lost 25% yield i'd kick my own ass. LOL. I have a feeling a lot of growers are benefitting from 1. allready through the use of moms/clones. Thought for the day: pump up the volume! think bach not bachman turner overdrive (hated those guys anyways: the guess who without "guess who")

They featured this contraption in HT last year believe it or not. I started a thread similar to this, little less mocking lol and it did not get as much response. But I wrote it off as Snake oil pretty quick. If I remember correctly the piece HT did on it they claimed 1/3 higher yields on peppers and tried to claim it could do something to the resin on the buds.... SO I BOUGHT 20 OF THEM CUZ HIGH TIMES TOLD ME TO!! lol

I've heard time and again that High times is shit when it comes to growing advice. It mostly seems like they're all about bud porn, but I confess that, i'm not a reader.

And you know they have sold plenty of them already, So many that I hear AN is going to release their version very soon with a whole new Nute line up deigned to be used with In conjugation with there improved version.

All this really does is connect your homes ground circuit with your plants soil or whatever medium you use.
It doesn't use any electricity. Just the ground connection of an outlet.
This ground connection is most often a cold water pipe.

Plants may build up static charges and need to be truly connected to the earth, I don't know but it makes sense.

You could easily build your own for the cost of some copper wire, a cold water pipe clamp and a wire nut.
And thus we see why people build silly contraptions like this. There is one born every minute.

I.had a short in my pump last harvest and it was sending a pretty decent electric current into the res I found out one day when checking the ppm of the water :o lol but the plants had a ton more foxtailing than I usually get I don't know if it's related at all to the electric current in my water but the plants definitely didn't seem to mind.

This sounds (kung)-fu-king awesome.

If your plantpots are not already grounded you must be growing in outer space. In that case you'll need a real long ground cable.
Maybe it might be a good idea to unplug the pump if you gotta stick your hand in the res.

Screw you guys. I'm running this thing outside with an extension cord to in ground plants. I'll get double earth energy.

Haha just a bad extension cord I was reaching in the res to move the pump lol

Yeah.. this would be so incredibly easy and cheap to build... why bother buying one even if it DID do something for the plants..

I DO remember sitting through this little seminar recently and hearing how lightning actually charges water with Nitrogen some how..

Also lightning makes nitrogen in the air available to plants..
It kinda caught my attention like .. wha? .. for a minute.. then I went back to not really paying much attention.

Nitrogen fixation of atmospheric nitrogen is what he was referring to I guess..

Grounding the plants though.. weird.. I wonder what University checked it (like the OP said)..

Yeah.. there are a handful of University researchers that had mixed things to say about it..

Some saying that it is not understood on a cellular level what is really happening, but, with side by side tests.. the results are there.

I don't doubt it... plants did evolve in the ground after all...

The thing is.... you could build this device for next to nothing.. paying that much $ for it is ridiculous.

The ground bar in your panel is nothing more than wire ran to a large bar buried under ground.. You could very easily ground your plants with materials laying around your home..
