Conversion bulbs let you use a MH in an HPS ballast, or vice versa. They work fine. cn

conversion bulbs are either hps bulbs that are made to run in an old mh magnetic ballast, or the other way around, and are mh bulbs that are made to run in old magnetic hps ballasts..
don't ask me how they work as i'm far from an electrician, lol..

Not any safe ones. CFLs can get by with a ballast small enough to build in. HID lamps need a bigger stronger outboard ballast. cn
