what is natural lifespan of pot plants?

I have some nice skunky sativa bud growing, i think it is close to harvest time. it is outdoors, about 6.6 months old. Most of the hairs are amber in color. the bud leaves are still bright dark green, but the fan leaves are all starting to turn light green/ yellow green. Is it time to harvest yet? do pot plants die off after budding, even in warm climates like Florida? I have heard that over ripe buds are just as bad as immature buds. any suggestions? the plant in question has a real nice skunky smell, i can see mucho crystals, my fingers come away scenty and sticky after touching the buds, and the buds are very dense. Also, most of the hairs have turned amber, about 70%.
Please help. I'll harvest if it is time, if not, no biggy. I have been dry for 6 months a few more weeks will not kill me. as it is, for the first time in a long time, i can piss clean w/out having to use a kit LOL

Hey teebee, that sounds to me like they might need a couple more weeks. My plants are outdoors right now too, they started flowering first week of August, so that would mean it's halfway between the sixth week right now. Regular schedule for flowering is 8-12 weeks, so depending on when yours started flowering, that should give you a good idea when to harvest.

Post some pics up and you'll get an answer from one of the more experienced growers right away.

lets say im in a similar region, and mine started flowering about last week in july, and given the light schedule around here, yours prolly did too. I would say you have a ways to go, mine has also a lot of amber hairs, but the trichs will tell the tale. Get a microscope and check for yourself, but I would say you prolly have at least 3- 4 weeks to go, it's a sativa after all.......

most plants are 6 to 10 months but unnatural I have a mom that over 4 years old and if heard of 25 plus years
is really depends on indica vs sativa. you should pull off and dying leafs or ones with purple stems they just suck up nutes that could be making bud

75% of hairs brown cut her down,no need for glass or any other shit
Mj is depend on light cyclye if you give it 18 hrs of light it will grow well forever almost :peace:

It's hard to say without a pocket microscope. Thats the best way.
here are some pics, you can note the yellow leaves, the buds are still fine

i water the plants every other day, except for the days it rains down here. i loosened up the soul and plucked off the more yellow looking of the the leaves, plus 48 hours ago i gave the plants a shot of nitrogen rich liquid fetilizer, which i will flush out 2 weeks before harvest. i thank all of you for your help:bigjoint:
