Those things looked so damn familiar but I could not place it! And I spent thousands of dollars on audio engineering. lol. c414 is one of my favorites tho for sure.well...you are kinda right.
they are found on different kinds of mics.
i think the term for the starting dB's at 0 is padding, which some mics have and sometimes can also be found on pre amps.
but these are actually just the patterns that the mic picks up.
