What is the best soil that I can buy!

Im gonna stop at lowes or menards or walmart tomorow and gonna buy some some.
I want to know what soil is the best for plants (robust, high yeilding)
Will 30$ be enough soil for 2 monster plants, im planning on digging two big holes and placing the seedlings in there at a week or 2 old.
I have some miracle grow fertilizer (24-8-16) and Iv herd thats no good.
So whats some good CHEAP soil and fertilizer that I can buy at a local store (no hyrdo shops)
The cheaper the better since I can always grow more if I have a surplus. But of course, I dont want shitty cheap soil, so whats the best soil for the price.

ps I have some miracle grow soil, but I herd thats no good . Even if I wait 2 weeks to place my babies in there.

well honestly your probably not going to find the best soil to use in any of those places. look for a plant or hydro store and get some fox farm

If you want to go cheap and have no access to buying products online then I would for sure go to either rural king or menards. Rural king has the most Organics which is the best way to go. I would get pro-mix which is pretty cheap but also decent stuff. I would add perlite to it also for better areration. Then I would also buy some composted manure thats only like 4 bucks per bag. Not the best stuff but if you wanna go cheap that's the way to go.

I really love Kellogg's Patio Plus organic potting soil. Its very popular here in the west cost (produced in Ontario, California) and I know when Mitchell Obama did her victory garden at the white house, they used nothing but Kellogg products. Probably just because Kellogg donated it, but whatever, at $5 a bag and for it being organic and having kelp, worm castings, mushroom compost, and a dozen other things I really think it's great stuff.

Now if you had lots of money to burn and wanted to try the ultra premium brands, then I would say look at Roots Organic. Fox Farm is good too, but I only touch it when it goes on sale for $12 a bag. Any higher and I won't touch it. Where as Roots Organic I'm willing to pay up to $25 but I'll be hurting inside because its not that much better than a $5 bag of Kellogg.

The first photo below shows a bag of Kellogg Patio Plus, Fox Farm Ocean Forest, and a camo bag which is Roots Organic. The black smart pot is filled with Kellogg Patio Plus. In the second photo I grabbed a handful of the Kellogg Patio Plus soil and I'm comparing it to Roots Organic. The Kellogg is more woody because it's made from bark where as Roots Organic is more fluffy because it's peat and coir based.

If you can't get Kellogg, look for Super Soil. Yes its made by Scotts who also owns Miracle Grow, but they usually don't put time release nutrients in Super Soil. Miracle Grow Organic is also pretty decent stuff. Just whoever you buy it from make sure to look at how they store it. Some areas are more prone to bugs. Its not a MG or FF thing, rather it's a logistics thing. They all seem to get contaminated during shipping and in the stores. Simple fix for that is to let the soil dry out and mix in some food grade diatomaceous earth. Some people have called up the soil companies and got free samples of beneficial nematodes. So don't freak out just because you see a few gnats.
