What is the best way to position 1000 watt lights in a room?

how big are you gonna grow your plants? height and width? best to design your lighting around your plant footprint if you have one. do you have a plant limit or are you just gonna try and fit as many as you comfortably can under the lights? what is the height of the room?

Whats up Scoob, good to hear from ya. No plant limit. But i use organic soil so i dont really like small plants. i like them in 7-10 gal at least. 4 underneath a light is plenty for me. The height of the room starts at 8 ft and is on an incline untill about 16ft or so.

i forgot to ask which wall the door is on (12' or 16' wall) and where on that wall the door is located (middle, left side, etc...). i would do 3 lights along the walls on either side of the room. that will give you plenty of space in the middle of the room and also allow you to have 2 different strains or a perpetual grow going. plus, like cannabineer said earlier, that will give you easy access to all of your plants.

not sure what that drawing is. can't see anything. if you want 6000w then the best layout i think is the layout i posted above.

Hey scooby, how about if i had all the lights in the middle. and about a 1 1/2 ft walkway around the room/plants? that way the lights shine on everything in all directions. plus i still have functionality because i could reach everything if i need to. right?

that way seems kind of inefficient cause you won't have a lot of room for other equipment. it's really not that big of a deal to have the lights overshadowing eachother; with 4 plants per light you be getting plenty of canopy coverage and footcandles per square foot. just rotate your plants every couple days.

think about it this way. 6000w has a footprint of 10'x15'. there's now way you will be able to comfortably fit that footprint in a 16'x12'9" room and still have space for other equipment and to move around. especially if the door opens into the room.

say if i wanted to set up 4000 watts. would it be best and most efficient use of light if i set it up in a square like configuration?

so that way light is crossing over from each light onto other plants?
Hello,

I did something similar to what you want to do. It was a square room about 12' x 11'. Check it out it's in my signature (lots of pics). Hope that helps.
