What is the right age to teach your kids why you really hate Nazis?

No, not so much. Otherwise this would be about visiting my family. Everybody has a right to hate Nazis.

Just putting it into context.
It was written in the spirit of “provocative”, however I’ve heard that it’s common in therapy to refer to unliked family members as “Fucking Nazis!” so it must be especially galling if they are actual Nazis?

Thanks for bringing this up. I have probably spoken a little blithely. My family aren't Nazis, well one kinda is and so are her kids. Grand dad was,, but he is long gone. You wouldn't hear racial epithets from my family even in closed company. They represent the side of evil that is mostly banal. You can be plenty racist without dropping ugly names.

The reason I brought it up is to put my history in context and show that I felt a responsibility to examine that question.

My family represents the vast majority of Teump supporters that would be (and are) shocked to hear that they are racist.

Trump isn't a Nazi, he's an opportunistic narcissist Miller is, Bannon is, most militias are, the Proud Boys certainly are. Naziism has a new face and new targets. I don't hate 70% of my community even though I hold them in high scorn.

Pro tip...if your kid is not racist because it was never taught to them and they aren't around anyone that is, but they know the N word is way worse than other curse words...just beware of that. Unintended consequences and such.

"Going to go yell at some abortion protesters son, would you like to come?" "No" "come on, you can yell whatever terrible stuff you want at them." "Even the N word????"

Doh

Doh indeed. Though I laughed a bunch at the mental picture.

Would point out that you aren't teaching hate by teaching your kid to hate nazis, you teach them to hate hate, if that makes sense, or at least recognize it and have some perspective.

My kid would have no idea what the "n"-word is. I will teach her to be intolerant of intolerance. Is that a conundrum? Sure, but she's smart enough to understand that some things are nuanced and may appear contradictory. Even at age 6, she's a hell of a lot smarter than your average Tucker Carlson watcher.
