What is the truth about 12/12 and the onset of flowering

One of the questions I have heard asked over and over is,"what is considered the flowering period? Is it from the onset of 12/12 or is it when you see your plants actually starting to show flowers" (Balls or Hairs). Now most experienced growers will tell you it is from the onset of 12/12. The truth is, your plants finsih flowering when you see their trichomes are turning amber. We buy theses strains with the hopes that they finish when they are stated to. Now if you bought Northern Lights, or any other heard of strain, chances are you are looking at an optimal 8/9 week flowering period.... We hope that is the case, but not always so... Sometimes sooner and sometimes later..... I am currently growing 6 different strains and I have 3 different plants, all of different strains that took probably 10 days longer to show sex than the rest they shared the same genetics with..... Why? I have no idea. Same room, same everything...... NOw one of them is Seedsman Northern lights. This strain is stated to finish in 6 to 7 weeks..... I am almost 3 weeks in 12/12 right now and I can guarantee that that 1 NL will not be anywhere nere done in another 3 or 4 weeks..... It has just basically shown it's sex and just looking like the tip is picking up hairs.... The point of this thread was to ease the hearts and minds of you out there that are worried because it's been so many days now and your girls are taking a while to show up.......... Bottom line, don't sweat it and enjoy the ride.... They will let you know when they are done....... Flowering period is a generalization but can't be promised..... I think a lot of it has to do with maturity..... A lot of experienced growers believe you should vedge from seed for at least 2 months, if not 3..... Now I know, as most of us know, that you can vedge for as long as you want or even go 12/12 from seed, but it will not be mature and it will never reach it's full potential...... I know most of us can't wait that long do to our space and heaight restrictions, but with the rights strains and tying and pruning, you can pull it off and you can see how the connoisseur smoke comes from the mature herb.... I vedged for 7 weeks and would go as little as 6, but no less than that... Good luck all and feel free to share any tips

MyNLS take 9 weeks or so. Its called genetic diversity. If they are all the same and show the same they would be more likely to go extinct. That is why there is so much diversity in every living thing. Got 2 give a shout out to my man DARWIN. I love his book the origin of species. Great read, talks all about this type of shit. peace
