What is too much

Hey fellows just sitting here and was wondering what you all would call too much light using good full spectrum lights in a lets say 4x4 grow area with reflective walls. Currently got 2200 watts myself and doing great. Have thought about adding another 1200 watts. Temp not a prob so not worried about it. Just a wondering what everybody was thinkin. I know there is formulas for this stuff but I like people who know by experenced growing and trying things like I do.

Thats not wall watts, theres absolutely no point in going by those nrs. Whats the power consumption of your lights?

For old blurple style lights: 50w per square foot should be max. For newer white lights with good efficiency about 35w is recommended but you can go to 40 if you want max but it would be hard to keep up with the plants at this rate: youll prob see deficiencies

PPFD is how they measure light for growing . 600-800 PPFD is all you need to hit a photosynthesis limit with ambient Co2 levels. To use more light one would have to add Co2 to the grow room , greenhouse or tent to utilize extra light over 800 PPFD. Respectable light sellers will have a accurate PPFD or Umol/j measurement for their led lights.

Good morning folk, hope everyones crop are doing great. Im just a old country grower dont know anything about all this techinal growing stuff. I know I have successfully grown for years and just moved inside not long ago. Just kinda interested if one could actually get too much light in a room and it actually be too bright. My lights are by colorfocus and are doing me a good job or at least I like what Im seeing. Getting big and sweet buds that are a pleasure to consume. Just wondering what everyones take is on this. Tell me what you think.

Answer is definitely yes, you can have too much light. How much is too much: your plants will bleach with too much light. How to know before hand? By checking the actual consumption of your lights. They are not 2200 watt lights, its a bs marketing thingie were they might use 220x10w chips and run each chip at 2 watts for about 450w consumption. Check your real power draw and we'll be able to help on this. If not, youll have to try and see.

Your right Rocket, actually 1 is 100x10 and the other one is 120x10 and actually just pickin your brain is all, my grow is going real good. Got too happy earlier with nutes and got that back in check but was just stupid mistake on my part but actually all is good now. Lot is testing anyway and seeing what works best in each situation. Everybody got their own way or means doing things and thats a good thing. I like to hear what other folks opinion is on things. Like the wife says, maybe I aint always right. haha. I can tell there is a large amount of great growers here that have been there done that on a lot of things and have a wealth of knowledge. Just an old country boy hippy wondering what you thought. Might catch a idea to go along with my buzz.
