What is your area of formal study? What's your specialty?

I wonder about this pretty often when reading posts, particularly in the Politics and SS&P sections.

What are your credentials? Do you have any sort of qualifications that might give weight to your personal opinion?

It is my belief that credentials and qualifications have very little predictive power for the sharpness of an intellect or the base of experience on which it draws. cn

<add> My formal field of study was chemistry. I have always read widely in all the sciences however, and have been on a history-reading jag of late.

I've learned more from reading the books I get from the library then going to school.

I agree strongly with what cannabineer has said.

{Edit} I'm a certified cardiovascular technologist

Right now I'm in online Human Resources (I spent the day setting up webinars for newbies. oy vey! There's always one bright bulb that can't figure out how to mute). I am educated in psychology and have a background in substance abuse counseling. I'm also a damned good musician. Classically trained.

Err.. BoA Games Cultures, BoA Creative and Professional writing Major, Illustration Minor I also have a Triple distinction Diploma in Art and Design, majoring in design.

Sounds like I'm all arts and no academics, but I got top grades in English and sciences... except physics... I suck at the math part.

We need more artsy-fartsy people in the world. :D

Aw.. <3

I wish I was good at math though, people on the autistic spectrum are 'supposed' to be... I am a failure XP

if it wasn't for my musical skills I wouldn't have an artsy bone in my body. When I was in elementary school we had an arts and crafts day. Usually on Friday. The teacher would give us the materials and instructions on how to make little Papier-mâché projects or shell pasta glue extravaganzas. I always ended up with a lumpy mess. I wasn't born with the gay decorating gene. I'm considered an invalid in the gay world. It was thoroughly frustrating and humiliating. But mom loved my IT'S-ALIVE!!! creations and displayed them proudly. We all have our weaknesses. ;)

I'm studying professional communication with a focus in applied journalism. Smok3h: Investigative Reporter Guy!

Got about three semesters left after this. I started off at school with video game design and development (art focus), but then I got my eye disease and I just can't see well enough for the artsy stuff anymore; thus, writing it is for me.

IT specialist. Mainly networking.
Side note, I'm a self taught musician that plays guitar and piano. I however cannot read music for some reason. Never sticks. I play by ear.
I also do a lot of art "sketching" and learned illustrator and photoshop by dabbling.
I currently have a 3.6GPA in college. Math fucked me over.
I work well with my hands. ;-)
