What kind of oil do you use in your vehicle?

Pennzoil 20w50

My C10 turned 40 back in November, she burns and leaks oil so I use the thick stuff so it's not so bad. The other truck uses some synthetic stuff and I use Rotella 15w40 in my motorcycle.

Fuck knows but it's leaking all over the street and it's still working!

Why don't foreigners care about their cars? When I was in korea...my wife's sister said she hadn't changed the oil since they bought it...2 yrs ago.......they just add oil

I'm talking about my bike actually. My cars used to get serviced twice a year.

Rotella in my diesel, Castrol synth in everything else. Probably just a coincidence, but i used oil other than Castrol 2 times in the past and lost an engine shortly after. Now, I'm superstitiously tied to Castrol. Any oil, within the same category (conventional, synth, etc.), meeting SAE specs is really just as good as any other. I forget who did the test but Wal-mart brand conventional 10-30 oil tested just as well as conventioanal 10-30 Pennzoil,Mobil,Castrol, etc. Oils are more closely regulated than they were even 20 yrs ago when you could get wide variations in formulas. The diesel forum I'm part of has an ongoing oil thread I've read indepth.

I once saw a 350 chevy run on a dyno with no liquid lubrication at 7000rpm. Dry lubricant films and low friction roller bearings, along with advanced cooling, I believe an alcohol based cooling medium. It was a dry film company working with a Nascar team to try and reduce parasitic losses in an engine. They saw a 10% increase in power just by eliminating the oil frictions. It was interesting watch it run with no oil pan on it and the rotating assy spinning away open..unreal!

I run synthetic Mobil del back 5w30(diesel) in all my gas and diesels. It's works great in gas motors as diesel oil still have high detergents and cleaners as reg oil not for diesel have literally no cleaners etc in it I also have or ran royal purple Mobil 1 EP. I work at a Mobil 1 oil products shop

Hopefully not too long in the future we will have some hemp based lubricants instead of petroleum based lubes.
Our cars will always smell like weed, just like the veggie oil cars smell like french fries..

Mobile One full synthetic for my Mustang .

Might be a myth but they say once you use synthetic you can't go back to regular oil.

It's a myth from the early days of synth oils. The formulas used to cause swelling of gaskets, which if you want back to conventional oil would then shrink, causing leaks and gasket failures. Modern synth oils don't have those issues. I've seen garages use this to make easy $$ off people, "oh you had synth in your car so you MUST use it from now on." so they can charge $10/qt rather than $4/qt.
