What Lights Should I Get For Indoor Growrroom?

ok so im moving in a month and i want to set up a grow room. im on my second outdoor grow right now and im not a complete noob when it comes to indoor growing
i want to set it up for $500-$600.i dont want i too be huge just enough for 4-6 plants would be fine with me.anyway i was going to get this T5 grow light for veg http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003QK704A/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0006856EQ&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=12TZ5VKDKWGR00DT6N6F .And this 1000 watt HPS for flower http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-1000-Economy-Light-System/dp/B001DVZHIA Is this ok or should i look at different lights or what? im also going to line the whole grow room with Mylar and i will have enough air circulation to keep the grow rooms temps down with that 1000 watt HPS in their i was going to use this soilhttp://www.amazon.com/Happy-Natural-Organic-Potting-12Qt/dp/B002JLEDQ0/ref=sr_1_11?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1310447031&sr=1-11 and these nutes http://www.amazon.com/Fox-Farm-FX14049-Nutrient-Formula/dp/B00572026S/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1310445685&sr=1-1 . anyways does anyone else have any advice on maybe different lights or soil or something.

Just get a 1000w switchable ballast that you can use metal halide in for veg. No need to buy a T5 as well. You can even veg with the 1000w hps, I have done it several times. If you are on a budget no need to buy 2 lights. Cheers

I'd use T5 for veg, a smaller light like a 250 or 400 for flowering, then an AC unit to keep temps ideal.

You need to consider room size, how big you want to grow plants, temps you want to keep them at, there are so many factors. I'd run a seperate veg and flower chamber though, by the time your first batch finishes vegging, throw them into the flowering room and start vegging the next batch. You basically get twice the harvests this way.

1000w is really damn hot, you pretty much need an AC. I cant imagine a 1000w grow room without an AC, well maybe its possible but temps will probably be in the high 90s. I'd rather just do good plants under a 400w with AC and ideal temps instead of stressed out plants under 1000w running way too hot. Just my 2c.

ya i know and i have thought about those factors i and i will choose a house with big enough grow room to fit 6 plants in their comfortably under a 1000watt HPS. like i said i will make sure to get enough air through there to keep the temps down. if heat is a issue i will find a solution so im not really worried about that if i have to go out and buy a small ac i will. and your absolutely right about the separate growing chambers for veg and flower that will certainly help out the harvest rate but i will have too see how much room i can spare for seperate grow room as the houses im looking at aren't very big i guess if anything i can just build a cheap grow box for vegging with the T5 thanks for the advice.

i would get a 600w hps with a cooltube and very strong exhaust fan. my plants can touch the glass and not burn because my exhaust is so strong plus all my circ fans blowing. cant do that with a 1000w. in fact instead of a 1000w i find 2 600w more efficient. i got a 240v dual 600w ballast. 2 600w lights on a single ballast. quite energy efficient as well. you'll easily make your money back for electricity which isnt all that bad to begin with. i also just veg with a t5 because its much more energy efficient. i only pay about $100 extra on my electric bill for my setup.

my prefereable set up is led for veg, and hps for flowering

explaination: my 50w led ufo lamp will last ten years without replacement and provides enough light for two vegging plants could put more but not too many, the problem is at the end of the vegging stage the plants are just too big for the leds to penetrate the canopy so i would want to switch to a 150w(minimum 25w hid per square foot 2x2= 4sqft=100w )they produce much more lumen power then led but led produces light in the correct spectrum of light. over all the electric bill is way cheaper by the end of the grow

ok cool i can see how 1000 watt could be a little to much for this small grow room when it comes to heat however ive done a little research and i do believe i could make a 1000 watt HPS work with the 6 plants but if you guys say the heat will be too much of a problem i believe you so what do you guys think of this http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Light-Cooled-Plant-Growing/dp/B002TNDCVK/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1310526207&sr=8-6 instead? another question how much yield will i lose going from 1000 watt HPS to a 600 watt HPS .

oh hey, i didnt realize you were in the market for a house.

in that case yeah sounds reasonable. I'd run an extra 20 amp circuit to the room to power the 1000w, yeah a 15 is enough but if you are running a new circuit anyways 12 guage wire isnt that much more expensive then 15 so might as well just make it a beefy 20 amp.

a single 15 amp wont power a 1000w HID AND a beefy window AC, but 2 circuits in a room you'll have no problem doing all that, plus fans, plus moderate sized veg lights, timers, etc.

Get HID and CFL. HID to cover the tops but CFL to get deep inside the canopy. I keep hearing the quality with CFLs might even be better than HID (Myth?) but HID produces way more light, heat and noise. Good luck ^_^

so what do you guys think

I think if you got a full room to work with I'd go with the 1000w, that said 600s are nice too. Yields depend on so many factors its hard to say. Some people say aim for .7g/watt so assuming that, you'd get 420g off the 600 (lol) and 700 off the 1000w. Some people say .5g/w it really depends on so many things.

All I can think is a seperate open grow room using a beast AC unit and 1000w light would need some minor electrical upgrades to accommodate it all. Probably just 1 extra circuit. If you already have 2 dedicated circuits in the room you're g2g.

What kind of ventilation are you gonna use? Because I was using an air cooled hood for a while and I found that my plants get alot more light without it and grow way faster!

im not %100 sure about ventilation maybe a small AC or something i really need to find a house first before i figure everything out with how im going to do the ventilation.

I just run one 1000 watt in a 4x6 tent and an inline fan with ducting to the attic and I stay at about 82 degrees any higher I kick on the ac. But one 1000 watt with no hood is about the same as two 1000 watt with air cooled hoods! My veg room I run a 4ft 8bulb T5.
