Whats up everyone?

So i want to start creating my own extract since everyone is asking me for it and i’m tired of flipping random ounces. Would like to be able to make a bit of my own.

I’d ideally like to use mainly my trim. I’ll be having trim for 10 plants about every 2 months and a big outdoor harvest. So nothing too much but hopefully a few ounces of trim each month pretty much.

I’ve been seeing people on instagram making some insane oil with trim, but asinine that’s all with purging and lots of technical stuff I don’t have the space or time to get into.

But I think i’d like to probally squish rosin?

Can I press rosin so it can look somewhat “shattery”? All the rosin i’ve come across is always super runny and sticky, super difficult to weight out and what not.

I’ve seen some rosin presses for around 400. Can you press a significant amount(1/2 ounce) at a time with those, generally ?

Super noob when it comes to extracts

You wont ever get shatter from rosin. The heat has partially decarbed it. THCA is the molecule that will get hard at room temp provided other terpenes aren't preventing that. Once decarbed the carboxyl group -COOH has been knocked off and it won't be as solid at room temp.

Rosin is nice, great product, my favorite to dab. BHO is way easier to process large amounts. A press that can do a good job of pressing larger amounts will cost a pretty penny. The labor involved in making your packs to press is what burns me out on it. It was fun for a day and the press got sold shortly thereafter to a buddy that was willing to pay full price because he didn't want to wait for the backorder.

Processing trim is a waste of time with a rosin press, you want to use top quality flower for rosin. With trim the amount of resin is so low that it's hard to squeeze it out.

If you want to process trim a BHO process or QWISO process is the way to go. I prefer BHO as it has better flavor and is easier to purge IMO. For BHO you will want a heated vacuum chamber and a vacuum pump. Never forget to close the valve on the chamber before turning off the pump or the vacuum will pull pump oil into the chamber and dump it on your slab lol.

There are a lot of tutorials on making BHO. The biggest key is do it outside and no sparks. Static electricity is your enemy. One spark if the fuel : air ratio is right and boom. A closed loop system is great but expensive. Being able to reuse a large percentage of the butane is great but safety is the major benefit.

I have just acquired the Slug33 Fat Mac, and while it will only do an eighth at a time 2 things I will note is that 1, it really is a lot of fun to use and 2, the rosin that it produces is of the very highest quality. On the you tube channel it is amusing to read all the troll comments about how crap it is. It can press out rosin that smells exactly like the sweetly growing or drying buds, to me that's irrefutable evidence of quality. I don't know how it's even possible it looks wrong but there you have it.

I mainly got it to deal with larfy stuff, not really trim, what I call trim, I throw away, this is what I call larf, it's leafy but still lots of trichomes this is my lowest quality IMG_7067.jpg rosin.jpg rosinb.jpg . A return of .6g on 3.8g

A big plus is that you just stuff that weed into the forge in about 30 seconds, not bag or other futzing around. But it would take a while to process 2 zips but as I said it's fun and doesn't take that long DSC_9751.jpg .
