what size fan

What size fan should I go with for my lights only. The will be setup end to end. 3 lights total. 600W aircooled hood > 400w cooltube > 600w aircooled hood. Air will be come from outside of tent. Through ducting. Into row of lights and then fan and then out of tent to exit out of vent to outside of house, tent is a 4'x8'x6.5'. Tent itself will have a 450cfm 8"fan exhausting with a filter. Only thing I need to know. Is what to get for the. lights

3 lights in a row is not smart ..............the heat will be to high for the fan at some point and it will cut off ,,,,,,most of the fans on the market are set for 130 degree then the motor of the fan will cut off

normally they only do 2 light in a row to adviod this

if u look they only have 2 lights infront of it then then 2 lights behide it ..............but this will lose effectiveness do to the cool air at the first light heats up then passes over the 2nd light getting more heat then tho the fan with it own heat from motor then passing over 2 more lights collecting that heat ..........u would need a 10 inch inline fan to control the system

running 2 600w cool tubes i used a 400cfm fan in a 4x4x6 tent with a intake (powered intake of about 200cfms) of 68 and exhaust entering the light was at 79

Meh,

1600 watts is not a lot. And its not a lot in a row. With no resistance (just get a dust filter) a good 6 inch fan or even 8 inch fan will work fine. Stick to mixed axial or centrifugal not some crappy duct booster type axial.

this one has a slightly lower sound rating then the others .............my 6 inch one has been running for nearly 2 years none stopped except on rebuild days
(re design the tent system try new ideas about 3 hours total)

just an idea, but if you put the fan before the lights and pushed the air through instead of pulling it you wouldn't be pulling the heat through the fan itself ever. That might work to address any shut off issues.

as the distance increases the speed of the ejection is less then the 400cfms the fan is rated to...along with doing this means u have to mount it intside the tent /area directly to the light making moving it up and down as the plant grows harder (the frame of the tent is rated for about 70 lbs except gorllia tents that are 300 lbs the cheap tents are only good for about 45 lbs then they will bend or snap)

so hood...bulb...fan ...carbon scrubber all hanging inside (normal ) some ppl hang fire protection in there too

Good point... I don't like tents so I didn't consider that. I admit it might make it a little less convenient and effective but if it is a way to do it without destroying the equipment it might be worth trying. You could also put it between two lights so it's only being slowed down by pushing through one, the other would still be a pull, and you'd only be pulling as much heat as that one light produces through the fan instead of multiple.
